Why I started Nanaimo Webmasters

My name is Morgan Carey, and I am the owner of Nanaimo Webmasters.

I have been in the web development industry since the turn of the century, providing search engine consulting services, web design and programming to companies around the globe.

What I love about the internet is that you can work from anywhere and service anyone. This unique opportunity allowed me to break into some very competitive markets in the United States, and abroad right from my desk in our little town of Nanaimo.

Because of my high level of expertise, and success in exceeding my clients expectations I have been able to achieve international recognition as a web developer. But something was missing...

I realized after growing my staff to over 30 employees, and processing millions of dollars in contracts, that I had lost touch with the community that I hold so dear.

Reasons for starting Nanaimo Webmasters

Local recognition: It is great being successful and known across the internet, but for myself and my staff, it is bittersweet as in our own hometown very few people even realize that we are here. We are very proud of our services and accomplishments, and we want to be able to show off our prowess here at home. It's a matter of pride - we employ the largest web development staff by far in Nanaimo, and we can handle absolutely any contract faster and more efficiently than any other local firm.

There is a need: Like any great business man, prior to starting any venture I launched my own market research campaign to identify demand for our services and evaluating the competition. What I found is that the majority of web site providers in Nanaimo are 1-2 man shops that outsource the majority of their development and do not have the staff or the ability to handle large scale projects. Of the few that can offer certain portions of web development at a high level, they are typically so busy that they cannot service the demands of our city, and users have reported waiting several months to see any progress on their projects. Because of demand for the few high end graphics shops in town, their prices were also quite high for the market. We are able to offer higher level services that are "complete" (We never have to outsource anything as we have 30 + web development staff covering all disciplines and thus are the only true full service web development company in Nanaimo.)
