Sparky from Edmonton asked for some 2008 photos of the Pacifica Condo project in downtown Nanaimo. Anyone else got any documentation of the construction? http://www.nanaimoinformation.com/images/buildings/pacifica-spring2008-a.jpg ...
Here's a thread for photos of people having a good time in Nanaimo. Here are three friends at the river: http://www.nanaimoinformation.com/images/forum/ci-river.jpg http://www.nanaimoinformation.com/images/forum/russ-river-playmobil.JPG ...
We had 18 people out to view the Perseids meteor shower at the Nanaimo Astronomy club's dark site. on August 12 . Many of our members also had telescopes set up so we were able to give the newcomers some great view of deep sky objects as well as Jupiter. Here are a couple of pictures I took...
I've only been there once, just this last summer. You just drive up Nanaimo River Road for 30 minutes and you come to a gate. It will be open, or a guy will tell you whether you can go in. First Lake, Nanaimo Canoeing on First Lake, Nanaimo
Nanaimo can be pretty ugly sometimes at ground level, but it's almost always beautiful from above. I'm sure there are hikers and pilots and Google-Earth fanatics with photos for this thread. Starting things off - this is Departure Bay (etc) seen from atop Roberts Roost. ...
Westwood Ridge is totally gorgeous - used to be more so, before the logging - wouldn't mind so much, except I have this terrible feeling there're gonna be subdivisions back there...:( http://www.nanaimoinformation.com/images/westwood-ridge/westwood-ridge-clearcut.jpg ...
I realized we don't have a thread with this river featured. For those who don't know, the Millstream empties from the Jinglepot area, ends up in Buttertubs Marsh, and then goes past the Quarterway Pub and through Bowen Park, finally running past Barsby Park and then into the tidal estuary...
Anyone know about any good Junkyards that I could get photos at? I'm talking like old car junkyard type places... :p
This is the size it was supposed to come up in! Sorry!
Found this nifty little set of falls today, and snapped a few pics. Water was nice, and it was quite interesting. It's up near the end of Nanaimo river road, behind a dam/hydro station of some sort. It was all behind some sort of graffiti covered tunnel.. Like that helps. Lol. Anyways. ...
I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this fantastic local hike yet! I've been up almost 10 times since I moved here just over a year ago. Robert's Roost is easily accessed from Morell Nature Sanctuary - I'll try to include a map in a future post. Essentially, it is straight up the main...
I go to Tofino a few times each year, for a work trip. This time, I took lots of pictures on my drive home to Nanaimo, and I've decided to make a photo essay of the road trip, for those who haven't seen Highway 4 for a while. It's a 3 hour drive from Nanaimo to Tofino, and it's only 200km, so...
Interpret the thread's title how you want. http://www.nanaimoinformation.com/images/perspectives/moby-dick-from-island.jpg
This thread is for pictures of rocks and other geological features around Nanaimo, or anywhere our members have been! Here's the best fossil I've ever found; it was sitting loose just above the high-tide line, east of Wall Beach in Nanoose: ...
This will be the first year I attempt to grow veggies from seed - and I am very excited by the prospect! I always imagined that gardening would simply involve turning over dirt and tossing seeds in ...then watering, and finally eating. Through reading online, and in books, I am learning it is not...
Just curious if anyone does this as a hobby, looking around and exploring old abandoned factories, warehouses, asylums, hospitals, etc? I think they make for some FANTASTIC photos, but here in Nanaimo, they're just so hard to find. I found this one the other day... ...
I thought a great idea with all of the great photographs we have seen here in the forum to come up with a project on a weekly or bi-weekly or monthly basis. The plan is that each period, there be a project that needs to be completed. Sometimes it can be completed with photos you have already...
If anyone has any, I'd love to see pictures of what Long Lake looks like today. Peace everyone.
I took a walk through Bowen park on Jan 11, 2010. The day was overcast, but I decided to take some pictures anyway. The Millstone river was the highest I've ever seen it. Here is the water nearly up to the lower bridge: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4016/4272609691_0e466491d8_o_d.jpg Here...
There are some pictures of Piper's Lagoon floating around here somewhere - but here is a thread especially for them! More about Piper's Lagoon HERE. A panoramic view from the little turnaround at the north end (no parking here): http://farm1.static.flickr.com/176/379953303_ab583e8ef1_b.jpg ...
