Forum: Nanaimo Outdoors Forum

Don't we have it all, folks? Here's a forum where Mid-Island outdoorspeople can network.

  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: Outdoor Forum - Rules

Everyone please remember: if you're about to start a new thread, use the "search" menu to make sure you're not creating a double. If there isn't a thread with your new topic as the title, then it's fair game!

  1. Beer/Rec Leagues

Hello, I've recently moved back to Nanaimo - and for once it looks like we will be here for the long term! I was wondering if there were any beer or rec leagues around - I tried searching, but all I found were posts on these forums from around 6 years+ ago so was hoping for some updated...

  2. Deadhorse Gold Mine

Anyone have any information on this abandoned gold mine? If you look around Mt Decosmos in google maps you'll see it. Since it's such a beautiful weekend this weekend, might convince my gf to take the Jeep up there to see if we can't find some gold! Check these googled links to find out more info:...

  8. Safety Walking Lights

Last night, there was another person hit by a car in Vancouver. The video shows two female joggers wearing dark clothes and some sort of reflective material. This serves as a reminder to be as safe as possible when outside. And, since this is the outdoor forum, I figured this would be the best...

  14. A good place for oysters and mussels?

Hi guys, is there an area nearby where I can find clean, plentiful oysters and mussels? I used to go to nanoose bay but was (rudely, with legal threats) informed that the area is all privately owned and I may not fish there. I'm not looking for seriously large quantities, just for personal...

  19. Peacocks in Nanaimo?!?!

My friend on Bayshore DR. just off Hammond Bay SWEARS they saw a "black and white peacock with pink legs" wandering in their backyard. I of course laughed at that and said there were no Peacocks on the Island (except maybe at the petting zoo in Victoria). Can anyone corroborate this?
