I have to say it... the spam and drug ads are getting super annoying...

Not alot we can do about it other than try and mod it out, which we do. Otherwise we would have to put up some kind of verification process where we have to screen everyone and i dont think anyone has the time for that...i dunno what else can be done...

I think time should be made for this specific problem. It's rediculous. Having spam in the intro forum with links to porn and other useless sites is not something people seeking information on Nanaimo want to see. And it's clearly a big problem if more than one member has posted saying they don't like it. Something needs to be done. It will eventually cause less people to come here.

I believe Morgan and Gerry are working on a picture verification system or something to that effect to make it harder to sign up with spam bots.

picture verification is already up - I checked - but it doesn't seem to stop 'em --- how about a confirmation email - that usually works !

Modding them alone is WAY too much work, and a quick google search on Vbulletin spam fixes brings up all sorts of options.

It's not too bad right now - 3-5 a day or so, only takes a couple seconds to do, but I have no doubt it's only going to get worse.

It's exponential - once they find your board is vulnerable, it only gets worse (speaking from experience, but using phpBB - not VBulletin)

I generally mod about 7-10 spam threads a day when i get home from work...LOL...not always though
