    Default Report your hiking activity!

I hiked up Roberts Roost yesterday, but it was very rainy. Great hike, but we got to within 90 seconds of the top, saw there'd be no view, and turned back. Very anti-climactic. But very climatic. Haw, haw.
And of course, halfway down the mountain, we looked up and saw the clouds breaking up. If only we'd been up a little later....

Speaking of hiking......... if anyone is interested in going hiking sometime, let me know. I am always up for it but everyone I know is lazy. Last week it was a chore to drag my g/f to " Neck Point". Lol. I am always looking for people to go with.

    Default What kind of hiking?

    Hi Desi:

It would depend on what kind of hiking you would like to do. I'm not available for the four day wilderness excursion thing but a day hike can be done. I've lived in Nanaimo for 13 years and never been to the top of Benson. That seems wrong. I do know that there are a couple of ways up. Sunday mornings are best but shorter three or four hours walks I can do daytime during the week. I work weird hours.

If interested, drop me a private Email.

    I like to hike too!

Yesterday Ryan and I went geocaching and found some pretty neat stuff...
We went out today to buy some things to add to the different geocache sites when we find some more.....

I went hiking yesterday near some waterfalls.. mm just a couple roads up from shady mile there is a trail that eventually leads to a great camping spot. Me and two friends went hiking in the pouring rain up there it was excellent.. Made it to the river had a "smoke" in a tree. Good times.. But yeah.. Im always up for a good hike depending on what I have going on during the day.

Default Is Sunday a good day?

A Sunday is my suggestion, but as mentioned earlier I have plenty of daytime. Most people work hours that are conventional.

Uh, what's a geocach? Is it legal and do I need a license? Joking.

Well as for what kinda of hiking I like, a few day hike is out of the question. It doesnt matter to me if its a hard trail or just a walk around Jacks Point. I just need to start getting out, getting fresh air and a break from my children. I'd be up for a Sunday afternoon. The hiking group I was in was formatted well. There was one person in charge who knew the trails, each week they went somewhere different. He just called everyone told them where and they met at 1pm.They'd hike a few hours and stop for lunch. It was more of a pot luck, everyone brought something and just shared. There were fruits, cheese and crackers, sandwiches, granola bars, just all small stuff.( oh and wine. lol. They called themselves the whinners, whine all the way up, drink wine and whine all the way down ) Then they'd finish the hike and try to be back at the cars by 5 - 530. I personally do not know any trails, nor do I have a direction sence to help us if we were lost. Are any of you familair with some good trails? As for car pooling I gotta van, I could take the whole group if needed.

    Geocaching

Is free and fun..... All you need is the internet and a GPS......

You can find different 'geocaches' online, it will leave you the coordinates and off you go to search......

People hide them very well, sometimes in garbage bags under rocks...

The one we found on the weekend was a larger margerine container filled with stickers, confetti, a keychain, some gum.........
Basically you can take something but you have to leave something behind!

We have a lot of fun doing it
