    Default Celebrity Sightings in Nanaimo!

Hey all. I think this was partly Grommet's idea... if i'm not mistaken.. But use this thread to tell stories of celebrities you've met in Nanaimo!

    I'll start.

Laurie Anderson - She is well known for her spoken word and weird and crazy electronic nonsensical music.

She played a show on Gabriola at the Haven. She also brought her husband, Lou Reed.

I was doing "security" so I got to meet both of them. In the "Green Room" area where they were hanging out before the show - Me and my girlfriend drew a few pictures on the white board... One of a goblin head.

After the show when I was cleaning up at the back, I saw that they had added a bunch of things on to the goblin drawing. It looked like a horse with a crazy face.

Laurie Anderson was really nice, but Lou Reed was kinda grumpy.

I saw that Bruce guy (from the new VI) at the Kat's Lounge when I was having Martini's with some friends one fine evening.

Strangest thing though, he asked me for my autograph. Said I was the biggest guy he'd ever seen.

My neighbour is Diana Krall's Uncle. Diana and Elvis rolled up in their BMW X5 for thanksgiving. Nothing exciting to say.

Saw Pam Anderson at the BC Drivers Licensing branch. That was weird - she's larger than life. Seems like she was chewing it up with one of the workers there, real buddy buddy.

Saw Hudson Mack at Whitespot. Taller than expected.

That reminds me, I saw D. Krall and E. Costello at London Drugs, going through the checkout. It was all I could do not to be all "star struck" - Ya, I'm cool - BUT THERE'S ELVIS COSTELLO.......

Diana and Elvis usually come into my restaurant when they are in town, as does Barry Pepper (Knockaround Guys).

I saw Gordie Tupper and Sophie Lui (sp?) at a dessert competition I was at in Victoria.

The restaurant I worked at in Edmonton had the whole Canuck team in one night, Tommy Salo is a regular there during the season. Canadian Idol judge Farley Flex was also in too

Geoff Courtnall came into Cactus Club one day for lunch when I was working there.

Last weekend my brother and a friend met Bencio Del Toro outside a club in Vancouver

When I was growing up in Powell River celebrities used to come up on their yachts and go to the Beach Garden's resort to lay low.
My girlfriend worked there and met hockey teams and the most high profile band she met was Supertramp. The staff was always sworn to secrecy when celebs were staying there.
I saw John Wayne getting of his yacht one day.

Not a Nanaimo sighting here, but I have seen Geoff Courtnall at the Oak Bay Marina. I think he might have a boat there or something.
