So Happy to be part of Nanaimo's old city quarter!! We opened on Dec 2 2006, and are now on 'Day 20!' It took a record 20 days to create the underwater mermaid's lair themed coffee lounge including a sunken pirate shipwreck

We have had incredible feedback from every single person who has ventured inside. " It reminds me of a high end night club scene in SOHO", "Totally relaxing comfortable hip atmosphere", "Are you taking applications for regulars?", "I would love to work here!", "Funky Kewl!" Makes us proud I tell ya what!

We are open Mon- Fri 7am - 9pm and weekends 9 - 9pm!!! Yep, Nanaimo has a Specialty Coffee Lounge!! Featuring Tasty light lunches, Sweet Tempations, and an extrodinary specialty coffee menu.

Wed & Sat nights 'Jam & Slam Night' bring yer acoustic instrument and come play with us (jazz, blues, folk & original stuff) or if you are feelin' so inclined the spoken work of the poetry slam.

Sunday Movie Night 6:30PM INCLUDING FREE POPCORN!! We do take requests for future movie selections.

Oh, and the coffee~ all certified Organic, Shade Grown and Direct Fair Trade!!! And the most superb taste. Yes we also sell whole bean coffee to take home (grind here if you need!)

Not a lot of the traditional advertising, as there is not alot of the 'traditional money, yet' But the postive word of mouth is fantastic, and the welcoming from our now regulars, and neighbours - phenomenal, thank you so much.

We have a staff of 6 including your truly, 'the head mermaid'. This may grow as the better weather sets in, and more people find us. We are infact at 357 Wesley Street, across from 'Delicados', and under the 'Your's & Mine Boutique'.

In answer to a previous question on a different thread, there was a 'film school' here previously.

We are totally open to local artists looking to display, show & sell their art, and as mentioned above local musicians looking for a jam/showcase venue.

We do have a growing number of groups that meet here, and are always open to new groups wanting a change of scenery

Thank you again for such a warm welcome to the neighbourhood,
Michelle aka "Gypsy Mermaid"
