favorite camping spot in nanaimo

Where is your favorite camping spot in Nanaimo or the surrounding area?

I have never camped in Nanaimo yet, well I have if sleeping in the car on the side of Nanaimo river counts! *my old landlord forgot we were moving in and so we had nowhere to go!*..

We have camped over on Gabriola though.

-Whalebone Beach on Gabriola (check tide tables first!)
-Nanaimo River (various spots)
-Westwood Ridges
-Kennedy Lake - not in Nanaimo, but worth the long drive out to the west coast

Nanaimo River is a big one for me as well as Whale Bone.. I love it there Also.. if you can hack it.. Top of mount benson.

I've camped out at Kennedy Lake and it was pretty sweet. The river onong the highway there is a great place to swim -- but it can be quite cold! Only place on the Island I've camped so far... I think I recall someone mention Newcastle Island camping?

There are some cool spots along Nanaimo River. If you like camping in the boonies the spot I mentioned out by the Arlington Pub is quiet and there is no one else around.

Well, my husband and I do a lot of camping in the spring/summer months every year, my favorite places to camp are as follows"
1.Little Qualicum.
2.Elk Falls
3.Rathtrevor Beach(because so close to ocean, birds often wake u up pretty early)
4.Bamberton (on the way to Victoria)
5.Englishman River
6.one of my ALL time favorites Miracle Beach
