Thread: Aladdins?

  1. #1

    Default Aladdins?

Has anyone noticed a place called Aladdins? It must have just opened... but it's in the old Red and White shop location beside the cambie. It says on the sign Lebonese and Italian food.

If you've been there please let us know how it is!

Aladdins, eh? I thought it wasnt there anymore. I ate at a place called Aladdins right by the Cambie on Victoria Crescent there with my mum about .....maybe 10 years ago? I always remembered the awesome deep fried pita bread and Humous. Anyways, last i saw it was out of business and I have never seen it open again. Are the Aladdin signs still out? is it actually back? I wonder if it is the same as im remembering or new?

i think it would be new Auliya... its in a store front that was the Redand White shop for years... and it was empty last time I went past during the summer. Perhaps someone took the old Aladdins idea and reopened?

Hrm, maybe this is the new place opened by Talal and Selma of Dar Lebanon and Casa de Mexico. We were discussing their new place in the thread about The Rendezvous Restaurant.

    Default Oh ya!

I just got off the phone to Aladdins......I had to phone and tell them "that was the best food we have had in such a long time". And it was!

    We had:

    - a vegetarian plate - stuffed grape leaves, falafal, pita, hommous, spicy carrots in a tomato sauce

    - cheesecake with a raspberry/mango coulis
    - baklava - fresh out of the oven

We ordered takeout but it didn't even make it home. We just polished off the cheesecake and are considering going back to get more.

I highly recommend the food. The lamps in the restaurant are to die for too.

    Thanks for the tip!

... I just heard about it a couple days ago, and heard that it's quite good, and has, indeed, been opened by 'Talal' (mentioned by riverrat)... we walked by last night, but they were not open after 5 on Sunday.

I love Döner kebab! I had it in Germany all the time. I'll have to check this place out.

^^ lol ^^ Traveller's staple food, the kebab, Donair, Falafel, Gyro etc. etc. Cheap & delicious.

Ate there over the weekend. We had the wraps. They were some of the tastiest I think I have ever had. The hot sauce they make there is the best. Not too hot but very very flavorful. I highly recommend it.
