    Default Great stuff folks!

You folks have some interesting bits and pieces.

Weather jingles! Yeah! the one about the duck was one of them. there was another one: Falling snow from morn till night, is laying down a blanket white..." etc

The Birthday Book was one of those things I tried to get every time someone I knew had a birthday. I wasn't always lucky, but I am sure our family got a couple of birthday cakes out of the deal.

They also had other phone-in spots, like a Turkey Shoot and Name that Song. Who could forget Problem Corner! I KNOW some guy used to phone in almost daily, if not twice during the same phone-in, with odds and ends.

Larry Thomas was certainly an asset to CHUB. He did news, spun discs, did his Peek at the Past oldies show late at night, and also Open Mike.

I had fogotten the old Al Addison commercials, but you are right he did use the Back in the Saddle music.

OK, if you want to get into commercials -- how about the Andersons commercial every morning at 9 a.m. It had a perky jingle then... "You'll enjoy shopping at Andersons, and here's another reason why..."

Keep it flowing, folks. it is fun reading your comments.

    Default Who's Who?

Couldn't get to sleep last night and I was thinking ... sometimes I do think ... about some of the radio people from CHUB. I came up with too many names, but of course everyone can add to the list.

    Duane Bodeker
    Ted Kelly
    Jim Fraser
    Pat Nicholson
    Darcy Rinald
    Doug Linn
    Jay Mark Webber
    Diane Ramsden
    Lyall Feltham
    Ken Milton
    Brian Dance
    Kent Kalberg
    Jim Fraser
    Angela Kokott
    Ken Gogo
    David Forbes
    Dave Tait
    Jim Robson
    Cory Galbraith
    Harry Mowatt
    Merle Logan
    Frank Seigrist
    Wayne Robertson
Vic Bianchin (died of cancer, age 46, March 24, 2003)
    Dave Marnoch
    Dave Stephen

Bill Windley or Gil Windley -- was he the bicycle guy? maybe. i don't think Hank Wouters did radio

Some guy who worked at Sears appliances did a country show on Saturday nights/

I think if you guys are looking to find out more about local radio and specific on air personalities, www.pugetsoundradio.com has nice forum where people discuss anything and everything to do with radio and communications. I've even seen a "where are they now" type thread. And yes, there is a great deal of CanCon in the forums.

    Hope this helps,

    Soda.

Hi Soda. I checked the website for pugetsoundradio and it has some interesting stuff. I couldn't find a Nanaimo thread. A few old CHUBers have contacted me recently and I have added their info to the list.

Just heard CBC radio is expanding. If we make enough noise, we should be able to get a Nanaimo CBC. This would mean alot to local musicians.
    Link to come.

    Hi.

Yes, Mike worked at CHUB for a few months. As I recall, he did his BCIT practicum there.

Nice to see him go on to such heights in the broadcast industry.
