Cory Galbraith came in from Abbotsford with a gigantic voice and set the CHUB commercials into a whole new stratosphere. As for hockey broadcasts, Larry Thomas did them during my stay. I was in " The booth " for a few Nanaimo Clippers games with Larry. I got him the coffee, he did everything, he was amazing.
I think you're right about Ted Kelly being the fog-eater guy, which was the only thing we enjoyed about foggy mornings. Since CHUB was so close to the water, he'd have known better than we did about foggy conditions, because that's where the fog always started in those days. "Turn the fog-eaters loose!" Since my late husband was a hunter and a lot of my students knew it, I had some of them convinced that just like CHUB's fog-eaters, another feature of Nanaimo life was that the moose up by Nanaimo Lakes climbed trees at the "cocktail hour" and had a couple of drinks together. (OK, I know, these days I'd probably lose my teaching job for even saying things like that to teens, but we had a lot of fun back in the day. ) I didn't know Duane Bodeker well; about the only times I met him were parents' nights at school, because I taught his daughter. Same with one of the Feltham kids and the daughter of the owner-manager (?). I was a huge hockey fan back in the day and you're right--Larry Thomas was tops on hockey play-by-play. If CHUB was still broadcasting, Joey Kenward would have been an up-and-comer for them even as a teen. He graduated from Dover somewhere between 1995 - '97 (I think) and always said he'd be a sports broadcaster. Made it--the first time I heard of him after high school graduation was when he was doing games for a Tier 1 hockey team in the greater Vancouver/lower mainland area, and I've heard that he's now working for the Canucks--sort of, because I think he's doing colour commentary during games, but I don't know which station or channel. He moved fast and deserved to; he worked hard and he's still only in his early thirties.

    Default CHUB On-Air Personnel

Don't forget Pat Meyers. He and Diane Ramsden were there at the same time. Pat has his own company in Coquitlam called dpi, doing commercials and voice-overs, etc. Diane went to C-FAX in Victoria where she worked for ten years. She's now working at The Butchart Gardens.

Hi people...yes that DJ from the past is still alive and kicking. Gene McCormick of the Tops n Pops show on CHUB who later got
married to a fan, Opened up a bike shop for many years, CHUB was a fun place to work. They gave me the all night shift. There
is not much advertising income small stations take in so they cannot pay much. The day I announced I was quitting a teenager
thought I was crazy ..I work for 50 cents a hour he said ...I said thats why Im quitting. Should note one of my listeners later
in life got his own FM station .. Bob Morris 91.7fm. Its a different time now with the internet. Popular DJ's of the past like
mine were household names and Red Robinson is still spinning CD's on Sundays. Gene

It was Leith Boulter who did some news at CHUB. I had forgotten that until your prompt. Leith did news and talk shows for a while. I cannot recall how long he did this, but for sure he sat in front of the mic. Sometimes people changed "positions" - and someone correct me if I am wrong - but Leith might have been "news director" for a short while. Darcy Rinald would likely remember. Darcy, are you out there?

I found this video from 1985 featuring Leith: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18wXnSarCJY

Leith was well spoken, sometimes controversial and sometimes ticked off, but I remember he could also have a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
