    Default That 50's Barbershop

I just wanted to put the word out that my fiance and I have leased the old Sportsman Barbershop on Victoria Cresent next to Mambo's Pizza. It should be open the first week of July and our grand opening day Dave will be offering haircuts and beard trims, etc at prices reflective of the 50s.

It will be a wicked barbershop with a 50s flair which also displays old barber tools, etc.

I'll let you all know of our Grand Opening so you can all stop by.

Hey cool! It's great to see beards happening more. Trimmed beards especially. Mine kinda grows in weird directions, so I have to keep on it or look like a trapper.

    Good luck in your venture.

Riverrat, you could be oh-so-european and stop in on the way to work for a beard trimmin' - I've always thought it'd be cool for someone else to shave my face in the morning.

Good luck in your venture - nice to see the downtown core picking up s'more!

Yeah, we're really excited to bring the Nanaimo core back to something decent. The buildings around there are absolutely beautiful and the locals need to start showing their pride for our downtown core.

I'm living in Victoria right now (can't wait to move back home!) and if people here can pull together and turn awful areas into thriving hip communities and neighbourhoods (think James Bay or cook street village, both used to be very unsightly areas) then Nanaimo can do that too!

Right on...I got my first hair cut ever there.....

The Nanaimo Hornets rugby football club use to meet there as ateam before home games and get cuts...It was awesome. We use to tell the rookies you had better get there before 10am because by 10:30 the razor was so hot it would burn your neck.....
I will definatly see you there.
And Gentlemen in England, now-a-bed, Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here.

^^ That sounds like a good little marketing plan ^^

Our basketball team used to go to a local barber for cuts before home tournements too. Might be some regular gravy for your business!

Just wanted everyone to know that my fiance, Dave will be open for business starting tomorrow (Friday, the 6th)!

It's still a work in process but I think it looks really great and Dave's been working very hard to get it up and running!

He will be at some point but not right at the moment. Old School shaves are a lost art and the reason being is that there isn't enough of a demand for it so the skill is lost. He and I were talking about this and he was saying he wants to get more practice in before he offers it as a service. I think he's currently trying to order some razors in from Kentucky (apparently the only place you can get them) and he's setting something up with a friend to get some extra practice in so he can perfect his skills.

We do have a friend though who does old school shaves from out of town and we're trying to get him to come in for our grand opening sometime this summer.

I know "Knives of the World" at, I think, Mayfair sells those style of razors, but I am not sure where they get their's from.
