    Default Hauntings Anyone?

    Hey everyone,

Just joined last night and am excited to start up a thread or discussion on all things haunted in Nanaimo. I would be 100% gung-ho about some kind of haunted walk and meet everyone who is into the same things! I noticed a long thread about alot of curious people re: The Strickland house by 5 acres..I have stories about that and I actually just moved from the end of that street last month..also the haunted gym on Franklyn and the Beban house..etc..Anyways, im looking forward to hearing from anyone :D

I'd be up for a haunted walk too. I love ghost stories and would love to learn more about the variety of sites within the Nanaimo area.

I don't know where all these haunted places are, so we'll need some help or a map or something?
I live near what seems to be (from discussion on here) some of the haunted sites, so that might be a start? But I have no idea WHERE exactly, so we might be walking around aimlessly for awhile.

    Default hauntings

I drove past the one I know is haunted in Jinglepot area and it seems vacant now. It is the place that has the small private cemetary in the back yard thats creepy enough ......There seems to be some roof repair going on and it's just weird cause the house was known for a lot of walking going on the attic. """"WONDER""""" what happened to the roof above the walking.

    Default Haunted Houses

Growing up in Nanaimo in the late 50's and 60's the two most memorable"haunted houses were the Booth estate, which sat where the firehall on Fitzwilliam is now(never had the nerve to go past the big brick wall and the iron gates. The other was the Haslam House, which was where the Tim Hortons at Wallace and Comox is now. The Haslam family owned a sawmill across the road on the site of the Howard Johnsons, and many haunted stories abound of that house. There are others, a lot of them still standing, they will come to mind later. I would be interested in knowing which one on Jingle Pot and Strickland you speak of

I remember hearing stories of devil worshippers up jinglepot road.
one story took place back in the early 80's and the people involved got chased by one man with a shotgun all the way to the police station. don't know the details fully, just heard the story word of mouth.

Default Jingle Pot area hauntings etc........

Ya there has been a lot of wierd activities and houses and devil worshipers in that area. Ya them lil churches or steeples on that dead end rd creep me out. I walked in there many years ago and got a good yelling at. I know of two house that are forsure haunted in the area and a family cemetary in the backyard of one of them.

I am not sure but one of the houses looks like it is empty now it's the one I wrote about having it looked like some roof issues going on, aka a tarp over the roof. That is the house that the ghost walked in the attic all the time and you could hear the steps. A friend of mine was in the house, said who is up there and the home owner said its a ghost...creepy eh.

As for the other home it has been made over to look very modern and it finally sold after like I think 1-2 years as it was known by realtors to be haunted. It is just a dam creepy area with the back drop being them ridges etc.....with them caves in there old shafts maybe who knows.

As for the house on Bowen Rd Nanaimo tourist centre.... with the little boy ghost I have been tempted to go sit outside one of these nights to see if I can view any activity. I have heard the lights can go on and off but to see the boy it only seems to be children that see him in the day time playing.

It is to bad the place on Strickland got burnt down as it definatly had a ghost like feel to the property. I walked in there and it did seem like someone or something was watching me. Just them stone pillars are creepy enough as you go in. The whole story of the family leaving there and leaving all there belongings is wierd enough. Never have really got the whole story on why they left or anything.

I for one love all this ghost talk and have checked out a few places in Vic that are haunted too hoping for a sniff of a ghost but nothing yet.
