Thread: Best places for breakfast

I'd have to agree with Tania's, the place is always packed, the food is hot and servings huge, good prices and you don't have to wait for ages to get it, even when the place is packed and there's only one waitress on. ABC both south and north locations take forever to get you your food, no matter how slow they may be.

I looked at Tania's Downtown website. They open at 11am and there's no mention of breakfast being served unless this is confused with Tina's Diner or Tania's Restaurant on Departure Bay Road? Can somebody elaborate? Thanks!

I believe the discussion is about Tania's in the north end. The downtown location used to serve breakfast but no longer does.

Are you referring to the one on Departure Bay Road across from the Petro Canada?

Tina's diner on Commercial St is the best for breaky!
I also just discovered the Granary in Terminal Park by the liquor store. cheap food cooked by the owners but yummy! the average age is about 75 but it is quick and yummy and they are great at refilling your coffee!

Funny, I just posted on another thread that the restaurant in the Dorchester Hotel was excellent. It's really quiet, of the times I have gone for breakfast only 3 tables were used and its a big place. Cost wise I find it is reasonable not much more expensive than any other place I've been to. Plus you get a view of the Bastion and the docks downtown.

They have these sausages that are made locally and their not fatty or greasy at all. But you have to like fennel (?), I'm not sure what they put in it as far as spices go but they aren't your regular sausage. Maybe they get it from Shelby Street.

Default Sunday Brunch at The Well

How come no one has mentioned the excellent Sunday brunch served at the Wellington Hotel, 3956 Victoria Avenue off Norwell Drive. We were there today and had the usual for the bargain price of $2.99: two eggs, fried potatoes, toast, jam, and choice of ham, sausage, or bacon. You have to order a drink to get the deal but coffee is fin. Two large breakfasts with coffee cost $9.40 total - can you beat that? It's the best deal in Nanaimo.
