I find it surprising that I can't find anything mentioned about the fire that broke out at the conference center yesterday because of a screwup involving the backup generator.

News Article
Nanaimo deputy fire chief Bob Simpson said a test of the PNC's emergency generator led to insulation on the PNC's roof becoming overheated and it began to smolder. " The insulation around the pipes on the roof used for exhaust from the generator smoldered but never caught fire," Simpson said. "We were there for about an hour to clear away the smoldering insulation and make sure it didn't spread. The situation was dealt with quickly and there was very little damage done."
Doesn't sound like a fire, nor a screwup!
Interesting. Quite a different story from my brother, whose been working at the conference center for the last couple months, and witnessed the "smoldering" *cough* (fire coming up through a roof is hardly smoldering!) I guess they don't want any bad news marring the "Grand Opening" because they'd need it to be completely re-inspected.
did not mean to quote sustain. Sorry about that.
I'm not calling anyone a liar, but given the stuff I've heard firsthand from guys who have worked there (including but not restricted to my brother,) it wouldn't surprise me if it was toned down.
