Interesting. The people against everything would have you believe that the entire community is up in arms.

To understand why Lloyd Sherry and Diane Brennan get re-elected, here is my opinion.

Lloyd Sherry has been a council member as long as I can remember and is the unofficial watchdog. While a lot of people do not always agree, you can be guaranteed that Lloyd will ask the questions THAT REALLY NEED to be answered for projects to go ahead. He raises many valid points and does extreme research on all the projects and quite often votes against them.

Diane Brennan is a bit of mystery to me, although she and her husband have served on the school board together and separately and have the elect-ability factor in their favour.

    NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY STATEMENT
    ON AUDUBON INTERNATIONAL

New York, NY, The National Audubon Society (Audubon) was founded in 1905 for the purpose of conserving and restoring natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife, and their habitats. Audubon is supported by over 400,000 members with state offices, programs, and 500 chapters across the country.

Audubon receives many calls and letters from people who have confused Audubon with a different organization calling itself Audubon International. Since its inception in 1991, Audubon International, funded in part by the United States Golf Association, has been certifying golf courses that pay an annual membership fee as Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries. Similar fee-based certifications are available from Audubon International to developers of cemeteries, municipal parks, campgrounds, resorts, stores, industrial facilities, marinas, residential communities and preparatory schools.

Audubon is not associated with Audubon International in any way. Audubon does not certify golf courses, or any other development, as being environmentally sound. Indeed, Audubon very often opposes such development. Furthermore, Audubon sanctuaries are protected natural spaces for public enjoyment. No Audubon sanctuary is certified for development.

We ask your cooperation and care in distinguishing between Audubon and Audubon International, and in clarifying that these various certification programs are not endorsed or supported by Audubon.

Sorry, but I never contacted The National Audubon Society because I am not confused at all and KNOW that they are not the same as Audubon International.

    Default Korpan no vote?

In what way does Korpan have no vote? The CON representatives are the ones pushing it and Korpan certainly does get a vote on everything right from the annexation of the Cedar lands through to the rezoning and OCP amendments.

And the people for everything would have you believe that the entire community except 20 people were for it. Everyone lays claim to the quiet majority.

Exactly; but most people do not realise this. MOST people ARE confused with the AUDUBON inference.

Perhaps Mr Mayor did not vote because he & others accepted significant financial contributions to their election campaigns? From "interested" parties!!

Where has it gotten us so far? Taxes continue to increase higher than inflation. The Cities financial reserves have been sucked out by the Convention Centre.

We are all going to have to contribute to the increased dam size, no one has mentioned the multi million $ filtration system that has to be installed, plus there is nothing put aside to replace infrastructure in the city which will begin to show increased failures as the age of many areas is now in the 30-50 year range.

So instead of densifying the existing areas and thereby getting new development to pay for a replacement of existing pipes/roads etc. the City stretches out further and therefore will increase the infrastructure requirements in the future.

Development itself is not sustainable but that is what this Council wants to live off of.
Something like 20 golf courses within a one hrs drive. Makes economical success right!! LOL

The property that now is Harmac Pacific was once part(about 1972) of the RGN/ Cedar tax base. The 97 acres is no more than another land/tax grab from a City that cannot balance the books.
