The last 3 weekends i have gone up and extensively photographed the old Zoo property. The railing in the water is still very much there.I found another piece of railing yesterday along with some old fencing.I am really fascinated with the old zoo right now.Wondering if there are any other photo's of it in existence?.Also there's a group of photos a few responses back.Curious where the foundation is in the pictures?

The railings in the water are still there and they are about a foot above water at the present time.

Hi jessika - you have to do either of these:
    • Post the photo to some location online, like on Facebook or Flickr or Photobucket or your blog - then right-click on the photo and "copy" its "location", then use that path in the "IMG" tags here
    • Use the "attach" option underneath the window when you post. Make sure you aren't in the forum's "quick reply" mode, or you may not see the "attach" option

C:\Users\jessika\Documents\nanaimo zoo 1958\another shot.JPGIMG lets see if this works this time.

Too bad. You're telling our browsers to look in C:\Users\jessika for the image, but our browsers don't know how to look in the "C" drive on your computer. You have to post the photo on the web, and then you can link to it (with an http: address).

That took awhile to read through, not to mention it`s quite late for me now, but it was worth reading! I'll definitely keep tabs on this thread to see what kind of history pops up.

Jessika's pictures did make it onto the net for anyone who wanted to see them. Very interesting thread, thanks everyone.

I remember the zoo. Maureen was my best friend. We were 'blood sisters'.
People don't take the grieving of a 6 year old seriously, I found. I was traumatized for years.
I have never met anyone who actually remembered the incident until I came across this site doing a search for 'haunted zoo in Nanaimo'.

Amazing read, ive lived on the island all my short life and had no clue until tonight of a zoo in Nanaimo. Ive heard of all the development around there, I would imagine the swamp land/railings will never go. I just wanted to see if anyone can confirm the swamp/railings are still visable/accessable. Any foundations left.

Curious how much of this historic area have been built over since this thread started!

    Cheers
