    I took approx 5 pics as we cruised past that freighter, and I was trying to have the Nanaimo condo-towers lined-up between the freighter's cranes.

    Wow. Those are really beauitful pics Yogi! I love the clouds in the first, and in the last one the water looks like a painting. It's got an almost haunting quality to it.

    Nice pic RR! I always liked climbing thru the Millstone area! It was disappointing when they began that construction and that one part got closed off. I used to take shortcuts through there all the time.

    I like the pics of the murals. You don't really see them unless you're one of the people that cut across the tracks.

    Thanks. It is an odd place for public art, but nice for those walking by.

    The murals on the exterior of the old musuem building are another out-of-the-way great display of art.

    I kinda like it like that, tho, when you have to discover these things. I only just realised they moved the museum into the Conference Centre. That's a bit better of a place for it. Do you know what they are planning on doing with the old building?

    Similar to arenas and stadiums, our Bastion has a new corporate sponsor, with logo now splashed on the Bastion's side:

    Thanks Pink Lillies!
    Flugel Horn, I wonder if we should start a whole new thread for your wonderful Malaspina Galleries photos? Or are you considering adding a new thread for photos of the sandstone itself? I would just hate to see so many photos of the Galleries, as well as any commentary, buried in one of these broad-themed threads.

    Oh and yeah, New Years Day morning was super cold on the water. There was some pretty thick ice in Mud Bay on Protection Island.

    I don't have too many pictures of the sandstone itself, although I'd love to go back at a low-tide to access more of the area. My pics are mostly of scenes from the galleries area. I also have some other Gabriola scenes from Orlebar Point and from the brickyard beach areas.
    - maybe a new thread on "Gabriola pictures" would do the trick?

    let me know, or just move my last post items to a new thread. I've got other Gabriola pictures that I can post later this weekend.

    ==========
    EDIT: I've started a new thread for Gabriola photos, and I've moved my above-post to that new thread.
