SLAPP suits can also be used in counter lawsuits. The point is to try to use the courts to make a person's life so difficult and so unmanageable that they give up and go home and shut up. And it often works. It's a disgusting cheap-@ss and dirty way to fight a battle. And I think if it can be proven that a lawsuit is indeed a SLAPP suit, then the person who filed the SLAPP suit should be charged with malicious prosecution, or something to that effect. There's just too many people in using the judicial system in a malicious fashion. And that needs to stop. But with judges and attorneys making lots of money and getting a hell of a lot of work from this type of activity, it won't stop. The court system in Canada is really just a private bank account for some of these legal officials.
