Nanaimo Mayor Gary Korpan sues Angela Negrin of Pirate Chips

Wondering if anyone knows if Angela Negrin is related to a David Negrin of Nanaimo?

There are a few Negrin's in Nanaimo and Angela has an Uncle David. Her father, Gary owns the Superette on Albert.

Thanks, Smokey and James. Wondered about the name, as a David Negrin of Nanaimo has been on City Council's Agenda at least three times in the last couple of years, for having unsightly properties at three different Nanaimo addresses.

I see in today's Daily that Korpan is moving forward with is law suit against Pirate Chips owner Angela Negrin.

I kind of hoped Gary had grown up and just dropped it. How nice Gary has the cash to instigate big expensive lawsuits over a lousy sticker, while folks who are loosing their land or their right to make money on the basis of his decisions suffer in poverty. Just like my mamma said, "life is not fair." Why dosnt he just take a nice long vacation somewhere and spend his money on himself rather than fancy lawyers working to take away the only thing some citizens have left....the right to complAIN.

Korpan was not just defeated in the last election he was humiliated particularly as he had huge ammounts of monies from Cable Bay Lands & I suspect thought his re election was a foregone conclusion.
Negrin had/has reason to give Korpan a "dig" but did not deserve a law suit.
I figure that Korpans ego has the better of him & he dislikes the idea of being defeated & having the "Korupt" label hanging on to his name.
Not a nice legacy but he brought it upon himself.

I truly wish that when i brought to council the email i recieved from Mr Korpan. the meeting could have been televised.

I purposely did not do a televised confrontation because I did not want to interfere in an election

i wanted an apology

Mr Korpan slandered my name
he used his position as mayor to intimidate me
He interfered in a landlord tenant dispute without presenting facts

every time i think bout his lawsuit I get angry.

i cannot believe he has the audacity to go forward with this lawsuit.

He got away with it.

The information on our instinctive dislike of Mr Korpans personality and lack of concern about citizens, and his over sensitive reaction to a simple comments or actions will keep surfacing. I have no dought that with this new transparancy thing and the attitude of the many he wronged or offended will make his mark in history a bleak one indeed. As I said before the election he needed to backtrack apologize and change his ways of self admitted arogance. What he plans to do to Amgela, or try to do to Angela (and if the lawyers are going to make a killing off this he could make her very broke if not guilty) proves he needs more feedback to truley understand what a bully he has been. I predict there will be a pile of facts emmerging and he will not get away with as much as he thought he could.
Non the less I would love for everyone to have known what he did in regards to an average citizen who hadnt done anything but make the error of politely objecing with his decrees re busking. Can you blog it or post it or something ie thee mail and subsequent story? Id call that issue classic Korpan.
