    Default Photos of Buttertubs Marsh

Google Earth hasn't updated its images of Nanaimo in several months, it would seem. Or at least not around Buttertubs Marsh. Here is an image of what it looked like before all the development of 2005/6.

Hi Shara - the spiky red and yellow flowers are called Red Hot Pokers. They are super easy to grow- they love the hot sun sun and multiply every year- I always seem to find someone who wants a clump of them. What is really cool about them is that they attract hummingbirds and also another type of bird that I haven't been able to identify yet. They have nectar in the spikes that the birds just love. Our 2 cats love to sit at the window and watch the birds too. =^o^=

Oh cool. They are really neat. I can see why they'd be in demand.
