When he went to school he was not the best student and was told by some teachers he would never amount to anything good. Well, surprise he is one amazing kid that has accomplished so much in his early part of life. On top of all his committment to music, he holds a full time job and is very successful at that too. I definately believe music feeds the mind and soul in a most positive way. All schools should place and encourage music programs as part of their learning years of education.
Isnt it amazing how a negative becomes a positive!

Every parent who encourages their child to be the best they can be whether in music or anything else is a credit to the community.
One of my my boys is a great singer songwriter and guitar player. he decided at a young age that he could make more money on the internet. Music is still important to him and he encourages his children.

My younger son became a hip hop artist right out of the blue. He is dedicated and hardworking. He is out shoveling the snow right now.

I am so proud of both of them for their character and hard working ethics musically and in life.

I am glad to see the forum becoming a positive for music and for people.

Ryusg7 Your appology is accepted it's unfortunate that it started in the first place. Everyone who knows us as buskers also knows the troubles we have had as buskers but we have chosen to team up with bylaw services and create a busking bylaw that will work for all stakeholders and so far we are off to a good start. Both Anthony and I will be holding another buskers festival in 2009 as we work together to showcase the many talented entertainers in Nanaimo Ryusg7 I doubt if I will get banned for defending myself against accusations such as yours. Lets hope now they are done

Lets move onward and upward. Scott, your apology is accepted.

A new year is coming. Progress has been made on the busking front , and in the community.
    Good things are happening.

Let us try to make every negative as positve as we can.

I would like to direct those of you who read this thread to a face book page called Free buskers of Canada where you can find lots of information regarding busking rules ect all over Canada. I also post on this blog about whats happening with busking in Nanaimo along with a few other busking sites.

Who has the right to decide if buskers should be able to perform in public spaces?
Who has the right to decide if buskers should be licensed?
Who in their right mind would view buskers as panhandlers?
How many different groups of stakeholders here in Nanaimo can decide what way rules should be set up for buskers?
Who gave these stakeholders the power to make these decisions?
Do we now have a city council and mayor who really understands what buskers can do for a city, which has many tourists year round?
Does this new council understand what buskers do and why they busk?
Do they care if it is +30 and buskers have no shelter from the heat?
Do they care if it is raining and buskers can't perform because of stupid regulations?
Is it possible that discrimination is part of Nanaimo's busking regulations?
Many questions, No answers why not?
To the best of my knowledge we may be in for a tough road ahead as we push for better rules for busking. I know after 8 years of busking in Nanaimo that we now have support from bylaw services but they are only a small group of people who care, The rest in power seem to have no idea about buskers and really it's not a big deal for them unless of course buskers are near a location where they don't want them to be. I have sat here for days after my stroke thinking about all these questions and wondering if they will be answered. I may not be busking again as there is no sign of me getting proper movement in my left hand. I will make my New Years resolution today and that is to fight for the rights of buskers here in Nanaimo and elsewhere with my knowledge of busking and my ability to learn everything I can about past busking issues I will be here for buskers even the ones that dislike me.
