Security Expert I would like to say Thank you from my family It is definately time for us to close the book on our troubles with busking here in Nanaimo and move on. Since the last busking review I have kept quiet and just busked as I always do and bothered no one. But when you are threatened with tickets for such a petty thing as playing music while licensed and forced to pay more money to the bylaw office for no good reason then it is time for to take action. We will make things right in the end regardless of the cost and we will find the funds needed to do what we need to do.
I have just spent the last 10 hours converting 2 of our albums from WMP to MP3 and cropped over 60 pictures of some of our busking days and added them to our newest site which includes 25 songs to listen to. I invite you to have a look here is the link- http://mkburkeshow.ning.com/profile/JamesCunningham
Piper I have three bankers boxes of stuff for you!
The time is now. We have the technology.
I knew Doug Christie from Victoria,,if he is instead the same lawyer... He has been around for number of years,, and my husband thinks he is great!
THanks All Ages.It takes a big man to take on tough causes.
We could not find one lawyer who would help us in Nanaimo without thousandfs and thousands of dollars.
The way that the world is going your son or daughter might have to earn some money on the street.
Just imagine if he or she lost their instrument because they played on a blue spot on a yellow day!
or maybe they used a microphone God forbid!
iIwas playing at the Ice Cream Shop one day singing LEAVING ON A JET PLAne. all of a sudden I had six voices singing harmony.
it was Glenn Yarborough and his whole band on their way to Japan!
What a trip!
if the bylaws had come along I could have gone to jail because they were not part of my group licence.I will never forgat that day!
quoted from piper?
"ambasadors who report all activity at the end of their day to Sharon Welch this activity could be anything they write down in their log books for the day possibly even busker activity."
I note that this is spying on citizens?
Without transparency.
The ambassadors report to their DNP master who also report to the Police.
Looks like a defacto ambassador defacto Police.
Very bad news for buskers and everyone else.
With respect to rights.
Vancouver has a an ambassador program,
I note Vancouvers' are Provincialy licenced as well as having Justice Institute of B.C. standard training .The same training all security people recieve.
What makes Sharon Welchs security/ambassadors,so special that they don't have Security Licences and B.C. standard training, would be good questions to ask the DNP,and City Councillors.
So long as they stay away from me everything will be fine. I remember the police giving us bylaw tickets for busking under the ice cream shop both Queen of the waterfront and I had to quote to them which section of the bylaw they were supposed to charge us under. They didn't have a clue.
Well I surely wouldnt want these ambassedors taking a slant on anyone and creating injustices. Not a point for the busker thread though if it hasnt been a concern for them. Wish I could stay up so late piper! I was crashed really early last night. Been early to bed an early to rise forever. I hope I get a chance to look at that thread before work. There might have been a usable picture of you in there for the paddys poster.
I get so frustrated sometimes. Here I have found a bit of time to sit relax and go to your link piper but I dont know how to take your invite from the forum to there and go on. It is passworded. Some of us non techies may experience difficulty with things like that. If anybodies computer ever gets hacked into you can just about guaruntee it wasnt me. Oh well another day.
