    Hey Kickadee
As I said earlier that I would apologise to the forum if we are not hired. After much running around talking to one of the powers that be. Apparently we are now opening the ViEX. I am supposed to get contracts today.

I apologise to all on the forum for panicking and freaking out. This has been an extremely stressful couple of weeks.

I think I will keep my mouth shut for a bi

With what you've been dealing with lately, I don't blame you for being a bit stressed out! I am so glad to hear that you will be at VIEX. I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing you there!

    Thankyou so much.

I never imagined that playing music could be so stressful.

The VIEX has more local stuff this year and they could sure use some volunteers. Training provided

With evrything going on it is no dought you would fear it was evrything dear to you in the music world being lost. So there is the answer for the group that feared loosing that plum gig eh? Opening is pretty cool. And dont keep your mouth closed for a bit. I am hoping to hear you all safely back at the waterfront. You deserve to survive at the very least.

A week busking with only two incedents? now we maybe getting somewhere.
According to Veneta Roberge ( deputy license inspector) she seemed a bit surprized that a police officer would question a licensed busker obeying the bylaw. But it all comes back to who do you trust in this city? I guess I will go busking today maybe RCMP will question me next about the bylaw It is unfortunate that they don't question unlicensed buskers or buskers who do not obey the bylaw it would be more sucessful for them to get a feather in there cap and the bylaw would finally be enforced.

Hey Queen, I had a nice visit with Veneta today at the waterfront and she informed me that during bathtub weekend all busking spots between the ramp and the end of the walkway by the port theatre are all pink for everyday use during the bathtub weekend. due to the fact that 2 spots are elliminated to accomodate the activities over the weekend. Things are starting to work but still a long way to go.

Piper, dont they have to have the license out where it is visible? Cant a bylaw officer see at a glance if the musician or entertainer is legal? We have to put all of our qualifications on a wall for perusal by authorities at my place of work. Just wandering if the illegals wouldnt be obvious.

I am not allowed on Port property so none of those spots are usable for me.
I am just too afraid to play there. I hate being embarrassed in front of the public. I dont think my nerves can take another threat of removal.
i cant use my individual licence because I wont take the chance that they will accost me again when no one else is around.
Maybe my busking days are over.

Is there an attorney in the house?

Don't let this blow you over, Queen. If you are in the right, then you have every reason to fight.

    Be strong

kickidee, As a busker you must display your license at all times when performing. Bylaw officers just like police officers use their own discretion when applying the law. Thats how you get some of us being singled out when speaking out and others are left alone violating the bylaws. bylaw officers may or may not know who have licenses but their enforcment of the street entertainers bylaw amounts to zero according to a letter I have from Veneta Roberge (deputy license inspector) from April of this year to the present date.
I feel that this should change to all or none it's very simple.
