Jeremy came over after supper and we jammed together for over an hour and a half. This guy is absolutely amazing -Guitar, Tin whistle, and incredible singing. If anyone ever gets the chance to see him at a gig I highly recomend that you go see him. He is great and very talented. His website is, jeremy@jeremywalsh.ca

I noticed a guy playing his amplified guitar downtown today. He was right next to the casino/subway sign @ Port Place Mall. I saw a small speaker, but as I drove by I could hear his music with my car window closed.

I thought no amplification was allowed? Is this a regular busking spot?

Maybe someone here can answer this questions for me, I get confused easily

I think it's just 15 watt amps allowed. No Marshall 100 watt stacks!

Blue, The current bylaw allows 15 watts and believe it or not that amp you heard today is 2 watts. I checked on it I thought it was a bit loud. The only instruments that are allowed to be amplified are keyboards, Electric guitars or any instrument that cannot be heard without amplification. The spot at the casino has been there for 5 years and is ok but it's tough competing with panhandlers. To date I have not been contacted by bylaw services so we can get on with a bylaw review hopefully it will be after the ellection. They will be looking for input from the public and it would be great if you had some ideas.

You wont get a review any time soon Piper.

AS foramplification it is really about decibels not watts.
The most important thing about amplification is that a person who has an amp must know how to use it. A fifteen watt amp is usually pretty crappy.

I still believe that vocals should be amplified as Rita McNeil said.

An amplifier is supposed to enhance an instrument not cause screaming volume.

That’s a great picture and story in the newspaper today Queen your getting as popular as our current mayor using half a page. It appears that the port authorities Mike Davidson still does not get it. I'm reading letters and emails indicating that we as buskers can perform on port property if we obey the street entertainers bylaw According to Mike Davidson but according to Randy Churchill at the bylaw office city bylaws do not apply to port authority property. What about the other non-licensed, amplified buskers on port property do they have to obey the street entertainers bylaw? NO WAY
Perhaps after the municipal election on Saturday we will have people in power with half of a brain to realize that Mike Davidson is full of BS and should grow up. It seems that Mike Davidson with the port authority is so smart he has 2 brains 1 is lost and the other is looking for it. This issue is not going away Equality, Fairness & Honesty will make it right.

    Oh my Lord!

All I did was request that Mike Davidson make me privy to his information. He says I have complaints . tell me about them.

Can he really charge me as a public nuisance under the Canada Marine Act without a valid complaint? A five thousand dollar fine or six months in jail! I have requested the information from him countless times.
If he wont give me my own information I know who will.

i want to see those special permits or special contracts.
    Show me the goods .
Has anyone one seen the so called permits. How do all of us licenced , auditioned buskers get a yellow ticket?
