Paddling 'round Nanaimo

..okay not AROUND Nanaimo.. but in and around Newcastle/Protection/Nanaimo Harbour...

Saturday afternoon, we paddled over to Newcastle with some camping gear, dropped it off, paddled around the island a bit, paddled to the floating pub for dinner and some beverages... then back to Newcastle for a fire and camp, great day out, first time paddling for a couple of the ladies.. some close calls!.. but all in all, a great day out!

The deer crowd the campground first thing in the morning and late at night - it was cool to watch their glowing eyes wandering around with the backdrop of the city lights!

Rented the kayaks from Alberni Outpost - near the ferry terminal.. good people, good gear, and a good deal (best rental prices I've seen).
