Wow! If you do have documents that include personal information, someone has made a huge mistake!! And, I apologize for obviously offending you and/or Piper - it is just hard for me to believe they could have provided this information!! Complainants are assured that their complaints will be handled confidentially, and that they will remain anonymous. It is outrageous if they were not treated with respect!!

On another note, I believe everyone has the right to quiet enjoyment of their property - not just one person who chooses to live, maybe differently from society as a whole. I believe we have the right to live as we please - as long as our choices do not impact someone else. Bylaws, laws, or rules if you like, are there to protect everyone. And, while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, unsightly premises are just that - unsightly to the majority of citizens. They often become home to rats as well - and take away others' rights to enjoy their property. We have to all learn to live together, not just live as little pockets, not caring how the person next to us is doing.

    Thanks City Chick.

I was up until three oclock this morning reading the papers I have.
I agree with you someone made some very big mistakes.

In my opinion Korey's family were and are, incapable of dealing with their stuff. They had had it all there for so long that it was impossible for them to deal with. This family needed and needs an advocate to help them, not to punish them.
Children do much better with logical consquences than with corporal punishment. They need to be taught how to do things.
There is no doubt in my mind that Korey is a good person who has no understanding of what has gone on. I have personally seen him try to get answers and help from council , only to be confronted in chambers by six police.

The truth always comes out and I believe in this case that the City did not understand Korey;s difficulties with comprehension.

i spoke with a number of Korey's neighbours at the "GARAGE SALE".
He is well liked by many and considered as a
    character

Korey has a few new people in his life who are doing their level best to help him understand the process and guide him toward assistance. He is trying very hard to clean up his yard and deal with the aftermath of bylaws , police and the court system.

I wish I had known about this family earlier. my troubles pale in comparison to theirs.

I feel sad if they have fallen through the cracks...and good on them for keeping their yardwork up so that everyone can enjoy their homes and their properties! We all can learn from this experience - not to strike out for no purpose, or perhaps because we ourselves are unhappy - but instead, lend a helping hand if at all possible.

I was not offended city chick and I agree with your entire last post. What I was was horrified that a big mistake was made so many times in this case. (There were many more) I always did wonder how we got to read absolutely everything the named complaintant said, and his wife etc. How can someone complain annonomously if those so far from the case know everything?

So many neighbors wanted to help and spoke up for Korey in council. Also you must remember that by laws told the korlecks to keep it out of site and it would be fine. Korey did that to the best of his ability and the neighbors and passers by could not see the mess. The mess was car truck and other parts. These were treasures to Korey as he built prototype vehichals and I dont understand them trashing the mobile that sat on a varience and was full of valuable antique toys and pictures of the familly and important documents. It was so horrifying. There is not a by law as far as I know on a messy house on the inside?

    kickidee:
What became of the mobile and its contents? How were they disposed of?
I have heard that tools were also taken from the property. If so, were they returned to the family?

The City was ordered to take pictures and account for everything that was taken.
    They didnt.

Seems to me that that was part of the Order. If the city did not do this they are also in contempt of the ORDER

A constable entered the mobile that was indeed seedy inside but a place where the korlecks stored these things because it was on a variance and untouchable or so they thought. It was then smashed and trucked away with the contents. Perhaps the police were allowed to enter this private storage area, I am not sure of law, but it was a shock , a very distressing shock for the familly. There are pictures taken by the brother of the mobile being smashed to bits and all the contents trucked off. I dont know where it all went. Korey maintains it was illegal for them to go into this mobile, only the yard was to be cleaned up. The brother tried to get some of the more precious things out but was told to stay away by the police . He got some during the night but very little of what was there.
There is nothing that was returned to the familly but a small bit off the clean up bill for the scrap metal, and even that seems too small an amount. as most of the junk in the yard was metal. I have on file pictures of a single tractor part so huge you could have made a truck out of it! It broke koreys heart when they even dug up the grave of his beloved pet pig that had been poisened and then removed all the fill that had made his property level. The "mess" looked to me more like a prairie farm homestead. I dont understand how anyone had a problem with it when no one else but the Korleks could see it. I am baffled. Can the city clean me up because my home is full of treasures others might find unsightly? what would be the difference between a messy shed no one can see in for example and a yard hidden behind a big fence?
Someone complained about the smell comming from the yard. there is a post right on the corner of the property on Park where the city vents the sewer! Metal does not smell. ( at least not like the chicken poo there now because farm animals are still legal there,)
Every time I want something repaired Korey being Korey, like a good old fashioned farmer, wants to help and is always saying "Too bad the city took my this or that" that he would be able to use to help me. Korey has a huge heart and would not walk past anyone struggling with a burden without lending a hand. He is old fashioned and clean in his personal habits, and that is how he was raised, courteous and helpfull. His Dad was a mechnichal type hard worker, and he and his mother raised him up knowing what they did, and this is all Korey knows how to be. It is how he was raised and it is so refreshing and comforting in this day and age I would be destressed to see him modernize even if he could!
So sorry to go on but this is one really sad story. No, Korey got nothing back. and as far as I know the courts have not and will not let him present his story. To them his yard was a mess, he was told to clean it up, he did not clean it up, and so for them (like at least one outspoken poster on this forum) it is cut and dried. How can someone who has a simple view of the world and one usefull ability become something he is not because bylaws change and make what was once fine illegal? is the law so black and white there are no allowances or excuses for something different?

Well if you think you are baffled so am I. I recieved a requsition filled in court from the city lawyer addressed to Korey but with Susan Korlek as the defendant, If there is anyone who can show me lawfully how that works I would be greatful. Susan Korlek has never been near Diane Brennan's home.
