Thread: City Cleans Up Nuisance Property?

I am sure we will have an expert weigh in on this one.

I dont think commercial properties should be exempt from the bylaws. Especially if they are as derelict as that one by my house was.

i know about the Coop feed place. That whole area was a mess five years ago.

I couldnt put anything on my porch. My dog was poisoned because he was barking at strange people running through my yard at all hours of the night. That McNabb property was an ideal place for druggies to hide and for other strange behavior. While I loved being downtown I am glad I moved to the north end.

Back to the point thogh. If one person has to deal with his stuff , others should not be exempt. I strongly feel that council needs to deal with bylaw issues differently

Is the property still in the McNabb family?

There is nothing in the bylaw stating it is only for personal property or that it is not for commercial properties.

Any phone call is pretty welcome... although I would find it kind of surprising if it were about a thread here! I put my name and number out there for the photography business which is about meeting new people, so I suppose I could draw a parallel somehow.... =)

I'm still confused about the 'edited post' of mine, and my 'deleted website'.. and printing out something.... and is it just me or does all that not make any sense? Perhaps that itself could be edited, as I think Piper is mistaken?

To the rest of you closely tied to this, best of luck with the neighborhood, with any luck, everyone can manage to get along again.

Queen of the waterfront, both you and I were in council chambers when that property was brought to the attention of city staff. Councilor McNabb exused himself for conflict of intrest reasons.

And the bucket trucks and bomb squads for such a dangerous thing as not cleaning up your yard....How often are these more dangerous peopl given such attention?

..oh, I've seen it several times on my street downtown.. those drug busts are not taken lightly. Several police cars, special units on scene.

..and remember I told you all about my neighbor with the yard full of stolen bicycles? When cops arrived there, they were circling the house with guns drawn. I guess they knew more than I did about the tenant.

My point? They hardly singled him(korey) out. If someone reported a threat, they have to treat it like a threat until they can establish that there's not a threat, it's likely a 'basic training' kind of thing for a police officer. How would you like it if you thought you were being threatened, called the police, and they go... "oh, Dave? No, no, he's a nice guy.. we're not coming down there" Answer me that.

I do understand that you could be upset with anonymous people making these complaints.. but one shouldn't be angry about how the city or police has dealt with them.
