    Default University Village

University Village (formerly known as Harewood Mall) seems to be moving ahead with a few new stores open and more to come. Bakes-Jarvie Insurance and the Laundromat are in their new buildings. Subway is almost open and Starbucks is slowly moving ahead. The new addition on Bruce has gone up fast.

I miss Manhattan's Restaurant and the Great Staff!

I noticed there seemed to be a lot of reconstruction going on when was in the area for a few days last month. Nice to see them reinvesting in the area.

Any idea what they're planning on doing with that old derilect school down the road?

Yeah, it really needed it. Especially Harewood Mall. That mall was absolutely beaten down, grubby and falling apart. I suppose they will do well now.

I have no idea what all is going into the mall but I can't wait to see! This mall is closest to me as I live on Wakesiah and it would be nice to have more stores and restaurants closer. When is it supposed to be finished?

Looks good. Nice to see some positive change. And nice to be back here too, I haven't been to this site in a long time. Will be back in the city later in the month.

oh, harewood is much better now, i recently purchased my first home last year in harewood areas, close to Park ave elementry ,love it, neighbour is nice, i think i am the only Asian in this block...lol..
when i first moved in, i told my neigbour, this is my first house, i have absolutly no furniture, all my stuff, collect from friends/co-workers. she gave me a fancy TV stand, portable BBQ stuff..

at that time, all i could afford is harewood, if i don't wanna live on haliburton... turned out everything is better than I expect.

I have bone fire, BBQ, play GH3 outdoor, watch outdoor movie on big screen, till midnight all the time in summer, nobody complains.... see, we Harewood, said, nobody shxt in their backyard...haha

Default Starbucks in Harewood is open now

The new University Village Starbucks is open. I went tonight and looked like lots of university students there. Was pretty steady so looks like a good location for them.

Not too far from me so I walked up there the other night. Yup, university students, right down to the staff. It's a good location for sure, with the proximity to the University, I'm actually surprised no one had opened up a coffee shop in the area before.

IMHO - Mermaid's Mug has better coffee than Starbucks, but I can walk to Starbucks.
