Thread: "People's Group Marketing" - Korpan's Campaign Expenses

Default "People's Group Marketing" - Korpan's Campaign Expenses

I have come across in these forums how the mayor has gouged his contributors in his campaigns. But I think something that is more interesting is the notation for People's Group Marketing dated 21/11/05 in his election expenses. I thought it odd that someone would consider our mayor a credit risk that a company would ask to be paid in cash. I took the time to go to the library to look up a phone number for this company. This is in the year 2005 phone book, I found no listing anywhere on the island or mainland. I went to city hall to find if they had a business license. I was told that no one has ever applied for license with that name. I find it odd that a company in business would not advertise that fact. I have e-mailed the mayor twice, the first time in late September asking who these people are and where can I find them. I am not casting any suspicion on the mayor, I just need to know.
P.S. Also on the election expenses the last notation was at London Drugs for what I believe was a computer purchased on the same day the mayor was filing his financial statement, claiming that the computer was a campaign expense. How can this be a campaign expense when the election had been over for 4 months.

If those premises above are true (I can't find any results on the web for "People's Group Marketing", either), I too would be curious about an explanation.

So with the $5,700 in payments to himself, a questionable $2,280 for what I suspect is a new computer, and this questionable $1,470 to an unknown marketing company, Korpan needs to explain $9,450.00 in campaign expenses.

I have reviewed all current council expenses and I could find no candidate other than Korpan that has claimed/paid themselves:

$1,200 to himself - 3 years of sign storage
$4,000 to himself - 4 months of office rent
$ 500 to himself - 3 years of data storage
$ 200 to himself - vehicle rentals (did he lend his campaign his own car?)
$2,280 to London Drugs in March 2006 - Data archiving system (computer?)
$1,470 to an unknown marketing company (People'g Group Marketing).

Total $9,650 in questionable campaign expenses. However I think we are running out of time to get the questions answered.

Dont forget the vehicle repairs of $667?

With only approximately $300 of vehicle fuel charged to the campaign does it make sense to charge the campaign with $667 in repairs to his car? (Assuming that is what it is)

While we are questioning things... what about the campaign workers meals that are occuring through December, January and February after the election. These are not election worker gatherings but rather 1 or 2 person meals at Yoshi Sushi etc.

Is The Peoples MArketing Group that was involved in the so called DAwn Tyndall scandal?

Korpan has been asked to answer these questions before and has not responded, perhaps tonight is the night.

I think the Dawn Tyndall issue was separate. Glad to see that she has stayed out of the elections this year. Dawn is a great community leader, but her business management has many people wondering.

Asking Gary the questions directly would be the best way to go. I've always received some sort of response when asking questions by way of email.

Campaign donations carry forward from one election to the next, many council members keep their account active and use any unspent donations on their next election run. People give Gary donations in order to help him run a good campaign. They want him to win the elections and believe in his contribution to the community. Nowhere do campaign contributors state that he should only spend the money on _______...

If a new laptop will help Gary communicate with his electorate better, so be it. Many donations come from long time contributors, and those people could question his spending, but didn't. It's not like it is tax money, these are personal donations given directly to Gary's campaign.

I think Korpan only needs to explain if contributors are questioning the expenses. Otherwise it could just be the opposition trying to stir things up that are of no consequence to them, as they didn't contribute.
