Angela ran for the Mayor's chair last election, so it is not the first time she ran for council.

I remember Smokey mentioning Angela running for mayor before. So how did that go? Did she have a lot of votes or was she like most newbies largely ignored? She certainley wasnt part of the split that Korpan apparently slipped through.

Thanks smokey. Looks like Angela did better than two unknowns in that vote, but still negligable results. Brunie Brunie gets a few votes each time and shes been at it a while from what I understnd.
Angela has run for mayor and councilor once and definately should keep going. Others have not made a dent but I thought she did well and has gained a lot more attention. There will be other factors of course but I think she has Gary to thank. I predict a win for her next time and I hope someone in power takes acception to something James Younger does too. I'd like to see the two of them on council next time out.

While I would love to see Angela in there... Before I would predict a win for her next time I would watch what the existing council does. If there are no "big issues" then it will be hard to remove any of the incumbents next time.

Great to hear the pirate is coming back downtown! It is a fun piece of art for the area.

One thing though, Angela should be looking into the bylaws and follow procedures properly. She should not advertise prices of items in her business, that is against the bylaws and she is aware of this, but chose to break that rule many times over.

"I don't want to break any laws or rules by having it there, but if I have to remove it again, I'm considering starting a petition to return the statue to the front of my store." - Angela Negrin

Advice: Well then just learn and follow the rules, like the rest of the businesses. If you want to give Nanaimo confidence that you would be a good council candidate, someone needs to understand the rules and regulations pertaining to their businesss, and follow those rules. If she has a problem with the laws, bring that to council/bylaws and go from there, don't just break them and expect people to have sympathy for the situation you put yourself in.

I think Angela will stay in the news for a few more months, then again in a couiple years closer to our next election. If she can learn more about the political process I would love to vote for her. The passion that Angela shows towards many issues is very encouraging for Nanaimo's youth.

exactly, city bylaw is very useless, it's just depended on if bylaw officers want to enforce or not, usually no complain, no enforce.

i could simply name a few, cities just ignore it.
thing like "illegal suite", city keeps blind eyes.

however, my suggestion, Anglea might want to try less confrontation with city please.

This rules apply when you live in Canada, Iraq, or reserve.

Right now, city election just settle down, Gary's banana republic might wanna
find all kinda of reasons of retaliation.

personally i think Gary's falling has less to do with Angela, however, his banana republic won't think like that, just let you know
when crisis strikes, there are always opportunities in the hood.

It is not a statue of iconic former Nanaimo mayor Frank Ney.

It is a simple pirate statue made of undetermined material.

The REAL statue of Frank Ney can be seen at Maffeo-Sutton Park.
