    Default Goodbye, Gary

An interesting article in the Daily News. There are little tidbits some us didn't know and the answer to the question. . .. . Did Gary Korpan ever work as a lawyer?

Now that he's out, it's time for us to start presenting him in glowing terms.

Actually, it's rubbing off on me, too. Maybe because I realized, partly through this forum, that he may not be the hard-core corporate-interest badass my friends refer to him as.

Or, is he? Smokey, you're so convincing. Who is Gary Korpan?

The Daily News l o v e s Gary, well at least Curt Duddy does. He quashed all kinds of "Gary bad" stories before the election and did his best to get a few more than required "Gary good" stories in before the election.

A textbook case of chequebook journalism if ever there was one.

Let's hope that John Ruttan gets the same treatment in the future!

If you want an accurate response to your question, I would suggest that you contact the Practice Management Advisor at the Law Society of BC in Vancouver. In order to maintain membership in the Law Society, a lawyer is required to pay an annual fee ... for either "practicing" or "non-practising" status. I understand from a reliable source, that as at June 2007, Mr. Korpan's official status with the Law Society was "non-practising", although I believe that in his communications, he had a habit of advertising his "law office".

As your information forum is another form of media for all the world to read, I am sure that you would want the information to be as accurate as possible and that is why I suggest that you contact the Law Society on this.

I should like to believe Garry practiced law so hopefully he is in the law society and did practice in Nanaimo. The article says he did graduate. I had no idea Garry was only 55!! However this is not a comment on how old he looks because I really hadnt thought about it. He certainly deserves a fine goodbye after all the time he has spent in office whether we like what he did or not. It is good to know he is looking more relaxed and better than ever and he deserves to go enjoy his photography. Thanks for the article smokey the brief history was very interesting and appropriate during this transition. And thanks Garry for having the moxy to put it out there time and time again when you felt you had no chance at winning, and for all the years you did your best to help this City!!

Gary Korpan was a fine mayor and he helped to get Nanaimo out of the "kinder shoes" and into becoming a nice little town with "still growing pains". We have to see and wait what the new mayor is capable off. Thanks Gary you did good!!

"you did well" would be the correct usage. However, if you think strip malls are good and real estate deals that cost us millions are good, that is your choice. please do not butcher the english language, as Gary and his old man crew have the landscape. Speaking of which, you better get to the mall quick...before it is gone!!!

My grammer always told me to not worry about how I said something as long as I got heard.

    Gary ya done good, man!

Of course, when I run for city council in 2014, I will have to watch how I say things
