5 TO 10 CM OF SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER FRASER VALLEY FRIDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. 2 TO 4 CM OF SNOW IS FORECAST OVER GREATER VICTORIA AND EAST VANCOUVER ISLAND EXCEPT 10 CM OVER INLAND SECTIONS FRIDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. THIS IS A WARNING THAT SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS..LISTEN FOR UPDATED STATEMENTS.
An explosively deepening low pressure system offshore will move across south of Vancouver on Friday. Rain mixed with snow will begin overnight on Vancouver Island and spread eastward to reach the lower mainland Friday morning. Snow will stop Friday overnight as the low moves further to the southeast and an Arctic front moves onto the coast from the interior. Cold temperatures and strong outflow winds will accompany the Arctic front. These strong outflow winds may produce snow along the east coast of Vancouver Island through Sunday while the rest of the coast remains sunny very cold and windy.

Winter storm watch for
City of Calgary issued
There is a potential for heavy snow and blowing snow with poor visibilities for southern Alberta Friday night and Saturday morning.
The potential for severe winter weather exists over these regions.
A ridge of high pressure system developing over the Yukon region will push south into Alberta in the next 24 to 48 hours bringing much colder airmass into the region this weekend.
In addition an intense low pressure system will develop and move across Montana on Saturday. This low pressure system coupled with the surge of cold Arctic air will bring winter storm like weather into the foothills and extreme southern Alberta Friday night and Saturday.
Snow will develop Friday afternoon over the foothills and spread into other parts of southern Alberta in the evening. A total of 5 to 10 cm with local higher amounts are expected by Saturday afternoon. In addition strong northeasterly winds of 40 km/h with gust up to 80 will develop east of the foothills Friday night and persist into Saturday morning. Strong winds combined with the fresh falling snow will produce blowing snow with reduced visibilities. Strong winds and cold temperatures will also generate cold wind chill below minus 30 Saturday morning.
A winter storm watch is an alert of the potential development of severe winter weather.
Snow...ICK!!!
Im sure albertabluesky is repressing a chuckle here arent you alberta? And so for a week or two it will be somwhat like the cold weather other provinces endure routinely and listen to us!! Now I've heard BC borns telling me the snow here is different. It is pretty wet from the weather being all warm and melty and everything and I think for perhaps 4 weeks in total of my 35 years on Vancouver Island I thought Hmmm yup this is cold. If we get a spot of that now it will be all novel and evrything. Get out the mitts if you imported any from the rest of Canada and enjoy. It is a rare treat! By christmas it will be warm and rainy again. You native born Island folk are so cute about your weather thoughts. You aint seen nothin less youve traveled in winter and in that case you are asking for it if cold and snow is on your to avoid list!
