They must be out there, because most of the main city arteries in my area have been cleared. I just got back home from a drive now.

This lack of plowing is a good defense for nanaimo drivers really. They would be able to drive properly is the snow were cleared properly as it is in other locals!! And I dont think the tip to clear the road looks good on the city crew! This town is so special. Even snow plow crews can be corrupt. Seems they will plow where the money is.

Default A note to City Administrators

Sidewalks are not a place to pile the snow on. Idiots!

The only thing I know about the city's snow clearing policy is the city trucks will clear the main arteries first, so the police, fire and rescue vehicles can get to their destinations.

I am sure on the city of Nanaimo website there is information about that. But I never looked.

The smaller less traveled side streets take a back seat to the main arteries. I was out today in my vehicle and those main arteries are clear. They have to be. With the snow fall still coming down, the city trucks are continually plowing them and salting and sanding them over and over again. And they will be doing that until the snow stops. Then they will move onto the side streets.

If you see a city worker in a plow truck taking a break, buy him or her a cup of coffee and a tasty doughnut. They are working their asses off and having to deal with dangerous road conditions that most of us don't want to travel on today.

    Default Bah humbug!

Just on tv ch 11. works yard on Labieux cleared down to the pavement, as well as the employee parking spots. Road cleared. Now I wonder how well the City Poobahs' streets are plowed, and if their sidewalks are cleared.

When it snows, for those able, I think need to all pitch in and clear the sidewalk in front of your home. My husband and I just just spent about 2 1/2hrs of shovelling. But before doing the driveway I shovelled a good part of the road as the snow plow totally blocked us in with snow levels of at least 2 ft plus of hard snow. No choice but to remove it if we need to get out. They plowed a single lane and one side of the street got the snow load placed at the foot of their driveways.

Man oh man, do my arms hurt now. Now I look at the driveway and think, crap, soon to shovel again. Very soon!!!

you all have to check out the little story near the end of "hows the weather in Nanaimo thread." You will surely get a chuckle if youve not been there already. Pretty much sums it up.
