Sadly we cant all stay home from work but staying home is good advise if you are free to tke it. At last I can say I am because today is a school district 68 closed day and if they close we do. Hooray, I will really enjoy this as always when this happens. My apologies non the less to parents who have to work when we are closed.

Default Not going away anytime soon

I've just been checking the Weather Network and Environment Canada's websites. More snow is predicted during the next week and it's going to be sub-zero temperatures for the forseeable future, which means even when it's not snowing, the snow that's already around won't melt which means there could be a lot of ice around, so I'm not even walking anywhere unless I absolutely have to. I think I'm already starting to get a really bad case of cabin fever.

Having this much snow stay around for so long isn't normal, is it?

While I was at work last night (and manning my area and 3 others all alone because I was one of the few who didn't go home early) I had a customer give me **** for being on the roads because I have all season tires. I would love to stay home but it's not an option for me. I have rent to pay and being in a position of responsibility I'm expected to show up. It drives me crazy because while I may not have the best equipment for the snow I'm cautious, I know how to drive in it (I grew up in the interior) and I'm less of a hazard on the road than those idiots with big trucks or good tires who go whizzing by me at 80 or 90kmph because they think they are invincible.

It is pretty though and I've always thought christmas lights look so much better with a nice layer of snow over them.

If there is no more snow tonight we should be looking ok. The roads should be clear by now arent they. Can we go out now?

They are not even touched where I am just off Bowen and Meredith. Its snow tires or walking out here. I need some time off anyway.

This is what I don't understand - what is it that the plow operators do not understand about the plows - they are to have their blade to the pavement - so that when they are done plowing, the pavement is clear. Everywhere I have been, the road has about an inch of packed, plowed down snow - which is of course turning into a skating rink!!!! I am lucky that I have brand new snow tires and a four wheel drive truck (which only means I can power through the drifts and get going at slick intersections - I seem to be one of the few people driving 4x4's that doesn't think it means I can do 90 without repercussions). Being from Alberta where at least he main drags were plowed to bare pavement asap - this is a little odd to me!
    Have a great day!!!!!

Yes, many streets are still very bad. Out on the highway by Woodgrove is not very good. Where the snow is powdered and you see what you think is bare road,, there is lots of black ice. The roads in a lot of heavy traffic areas seem to get worse with all the traffic on them. Best to wait and see what the sky brings tonight and watch the temper. I only went out today because I had to and my husband is a very cautious driver. But again it is the other driver you have to be so aware of. STAY THE HELL BACK!! The part I don't like is driving side by side with the other driver in the other lane. Your vehicle can easily slide into you all of a sudden.

I just got in from Woodgrove and its a war zone out there. People are getting stuck in all the intersections and turnouts, plus in the parking spots around the mall and Canadian Tire. I couldn't drive 50 feet without seeing somebody stuck.

Spent the day working on Gabriola... Although a bother sometimes, the snow can also be beautiful...

It totally amazes me why people just can't go out and get themselves a $40.00 set of cable chains and keep them in their trunk or behind their seat for emergencies like this.
