I just wanted to let you all in on a little secret called tiger Lily Farms in Qualicum. If you, like me, are interested in eating more local meat and knowing how your food was raised and treated then I thought you might also want to know about this lovely place.

It's a working farm that also sells meat by the whole or half animal ~ it's a lot of meat, but if you have a family, or a friend or two to go in with you - it's amazing.
You can also bring your family there during the warmer seasons to the petting zoo, or carriage rides.

My partner and I picked up a side of pork (butchered) last month and received: bacon (lots and lots of bacon), sausage, tenderloin, pork chops, ground pork, side ribs, spare ribs, butt roast, side roast , and , did I mention bacon?
We choose not to get the pork fat as we do not make soap or our own shortening
Our deep freeze is filled and are our tummies
You truly can taste the difference, you help the local economy (and some great people) and you can feel good about eating meat that was treated well and was able to live a relatively normal farm life =)
