    Unhappy Unwanted automated telephone solicitation

OK we all get that annoying call at the time we least want it. The easiest reply is to simply hang up, but sometimes I want to "teach them a lesson".
Afraid to press the buttons they instruct you to in case I get billed for something. Any thoughts on ways to get off their "hit list".

with Shaw you can block anonymous callers as well as block up to 50 individual numbers... usually there's a half dozen or so solicitation callers at any given time so we just block those numbers after they call. we haven't had a solicitation call in months and months.

How do you block the number into the phone, as I have shaw for my phone. I have an automated caller almost everyday stating it is the law office. Doesn't say who they want but to press a button to clear up the issue?? This call has been going on for months and is driving our household crazy. The first time I got it, it stressed me out because I wondered what the hell? Then when they called and no one was home it went to the ans machine. Same message. They have a second auto one that they use sometimes which sounds more demanding for you to hit the #1 button to speak with someone. Has anyone had one of these calls.

I believe with Shaw you dial *60 or *61 after the call to put it on your list of unwanted callers. Try both next time, one of them works.

    Thanks Big Mac
i have been getting them from NCO. They said today someone buys the numbers from a list. I am on Shaw so how does that happen?

Queen of the Waterfront--calling numbers are brought from a list. If you do not want to be on the calling list for telemarketers and etc you need to register with Canada Do Not Call registry.

I've also heard that registering with the Do Not Call list is the best way to get calls!
