I am hoping to speak with Rick ,in person,in the not too distant future.

My main interest is to see that things are put on the right footing.

If an employment opportunity, "of any kind",from any employer were to come my way, that would be a surprising bonus.

If any employer wants to contact me on
    "any type of employment opportunity."
Please feel free to contact me,via private message,

Thank you for the nice thought FOXHALL.

Get those cv's out! Rick is your best bet given yours and his interest in
security, but, in this economy 'tis best to cast your net wide. Bon Chance!

My main goal is to see the current issue through. I have spoken with Rick on the phone a couple of times, but have thought it better to at least wait until the March 10,2009 passes.

I am hoping, by then, he will have more time to focus on the security/ambassadors issue.

I note ,that the security/ambassador network, will probably continue to operate, for some time, regardless of the results of the vote.

I would also say that my main interest is justice and fairness, with respect to the DNP and security.

Hang in there--submitting cv's might help with your EI status in the short term, eh? In the meantime, contact Rick. Cheers!

How many DNPers does it take to change a light bulb?

    35

One DNPer to hold the light bulb...

and 34 DNPers to drink enough "Cough Syrup" to make the room spin!

    Kickidee sez

One to change the bulb and 34 ambassadors to police it?

Well, I for one am not in favour of any type of combination ambassador/security people in the downtown core or throughout the city. I don't feel that we need it nor is our community in the situation where it is warranted. Each and every business person downtown should be an ambassador of the city and be able to answer most questions regarding location of other types of businesses or assist people if there is a security issue. We have the RCMP on their bikes throughout most of the year and a downtown police office on Victoria Crescent. If we need extra security, do not tie it to an ambassador type program, keep it separate.

    Good Morning Smokey,

I would also add that with respect to B.C. provincial regulations regarding Security Workers, all ,I repeat
all CIVIC EMPLYOEES are EXEMPT BY STATUTE, with respect to
Security licencing , so any day the CITY wants more eyes and ears,
more ambassadors (civic cheer leading) they already have it.

Its like the DNP and the City don't think their own City workers are good enough or capable.

    Shame

Ambassadors by their very nature should not be security.

i agree with you Smokey every person who lives and works in Nanaimo should be an ambassador. It shows pride in where you live.

Too many cooks spoil the broth and then you have to pay for more ingredients.

I am not opposed to certain kinds of civic cheerleader, hometown pride etc. It not would bother me if some grant money were sought for such purpose.

I am opposed to the ongoing "Gong Show" with the DNP with respect to their amateurish "Security Network"

For instance look at all the different policies these idiots at the DNP have had with respect to buskers.

How we are policed is such a basic issue for all communities.
