Perhaps you could tell us what you would have done differently and how the end result from your solution would be better from what we have now.

It is easy to cast stones from the cheap seats but what solution would you have proposed?

I would have voted exactly the way Sherry, Kipp, Pattje and Bestwick did. Perhaps the City should be looking for realistic developers who can build a five or six story hotel. Enough of the dreamers and their thirty seven or twenty story hotels.

And the result would be the same. I asked what you would have done differently, i.e. to bring about a different result.

    The decision Monday resulted in:
    • City owned land back clear title
    • City free to pursue other opportunities
    • City might get $100,000 from Millennium

That is what the 5 votes Monday accomplished. As far as I can tell your solution provides the same results, without the potential for the $100,000. Did I get that right?

Thats correct. I would not have insulted the taxpayers of this city with the promise of 100,000 dollars. in exchange for one year of any negotiations with Suro/Triarc. Refer to the comments section of the Daily Snooze and you can read for yourself the reaction of the taxpayer.

So you don't have a better solution, just a different approach providing the same result.

There is no year of additional negotiations you are just making that up. I think it is clear from the comments made by Mayor Ruttan that they are looking for alternate more viable partners and I suspect that council & staff won't be wasting much time negotiating with Millennium anymore.

I have no doubt the taxpayers, much like the new members of Council, are frustrated by the entire fiasco. But I don't see you suggesting a solution that would have resulted in a better outcome. Because you don't have one.

I had the solution but as it turns out the City provided the YES campaign with that exact amount 100,000 dollars to convince taxpayers this whole mess was a good idea. I VOTED NO DID YOU ?

Yeah we can all play Monday morning quarterback The guys in the room had to call the play based on what was in front of them today, NOT what was in front of a different team four years ago.

I see you have still not offered up a better solution to the decision made on Monday and I suspect you won't.

Seems to me that you opened this door yourself when you attacked titan, a long time and respected member of this forum your first day here or have you forgotten?

I am prepared to side with titan on this one. You come out swinging and then call for relief when you find yourself on the ropes. Can't have it both ways. You want respect on this forum I say you have to earn it.

Why not just end the deal? Why the.. lets go another year for $100K?

Get started collecting back the management fees etc....

There are a bunch of unanswered questions.

    1) If the agreement is not yet cancelled can the City actually go after the $3million?

    2) If the City chooses to go with another developer before a year is up and yet they have decided to give Millennium another year through this agreement, will the City actually be able to go after the $3 million as the City's actions then will prevent Millennium to move forward?

    3) If the City decides it wants to go with another developer does Millennium have the right to choose to proceed immediately with the development? ie similar to a right of first refusal.

    4) Why use the Foundry land as a carrot? Why not start from scratch and develop a hotel plan that will actually work downtown?

    5) Who is going to pay for the "search" for a new partner? It certainly wont be Millennium.

    6) What security does the City have for the recovery of the $3million? If there is none why not pursue it immediately in court.
