    Default harewood town meeting

    Did anybody go there?
i was there tonight, great turn out. If you miss it, you should come to next one, very informative; open my eyes to this neighbourhood.

University villeage actually let us know that, there are no banks, credit union interested in opening branch in Harewood, this is very disappointed.

i think bankers think university students, resident of harewood have no money or what?

Is there not a Bank of Montreal already in the Harewood Mall. Banks do not usually go side by side in a Mall. The Vancouver University also has the Royal Bank machines. Like any business they do their homework before they would commit to establishing a new business outlet. Guess it is not profitable.

The Bank was closed in BMO's 2005 fiscal year and the Bank Machines were removed in the 2007 fiscal year. Click on Branch and/or Automated Bank Machine closures for each report.

It only seems like a year

no, there is not, and the mall can not find any banks or credit unions neither. especially in recession time like today, it is very hard to find financial institutions want to open new branches.

you see, i have been to UBC, SFU, even University of Regina got banks in campus..

University of Washington in Seattle, got 5 city blocks district there, most liberal place in the U.S, tons of small dine out places, family shops, coffee shops, absolutely no big box.
i wish one day Harewood can transform into university district of Seattle.

Well banks want big profits and if they can not make those,, banks machines are what they will give you. I have worked for over 20 years in the banking industry and profits are the targets!!

I did not even know about it. Where was it and how many turned out? What was the purpose and how does a south-end resident find out about the next one?

I read about it on the forum and then completely forgot. Anything else Bamboo then about what might be going in there? Anything we could know before the next meeting?
