I remember you mentioning sommething about that at one point. I went for a walk back there and didn't see anything, didn't look around much. It was wet out that day and getting dark. The maps show a few entrances around there and if they were all sealed the same way, then it was a dozer that pushed dirt into them. I think you can still see the impression of the dozer made, I know more entrances were at the foot of the rock formations. I would be willing to bet you could uncover something if you were digging in the right spot....

The video doesn't say much about the remains from that era except that there isn't very much left these days. I'm glad the right individuals were making the decision to preserve that house. It's all too easy to destroy that kind of thing and look back and say "well maybe we should have preserved it".

Here's that photo of the Northfield Mine again, dpill. You can't tell where you are, but you can see the ocean in the background.

Nice to hear you fellows are going to use the reusable type of gas detectors.
Only get a single use out of a canary. These days the SPCA might complain. Canarys cost a lot more now too!
But if you were thinking to go the original way....
(pic) Keep warm, and winter well.

If you are really concerned about the accuracy of your gas testing instruments.
I don't know if they will do it for you or not but Harmac has all the test gases that u need to calibrate your gas testing instruments. It wouldn't hurt to give them a call and the guys in the lab there are will qualified.

Unfortunately, no. The bronco was sold a year ago this past February. A good 'mountain slayer', but it was just too damn expensive to run. 4WDs are great vehicles to have around here, especially when it snows. We were extremely lucky this past winter. We're on the tail end of things now, I hear the birds starting to chirp again!

Here's something I found on eBay for about $40.00. This is a plastic model kit called "Old Coal Mine", some of you may have seen it at Leisure Time Hobbies a while back before Ken closed his store. I bought the kit but never did anything with it. This one is an HO scale, but they also came in the N scale.

I talked to Ken at Leisure Time and he said the guy who created it actually based it on the White Rapid Mine. The Nanaimo Museum used to have the exact model in a display case, painted red. A guy really needs space to make a model railroad, something I never had. And you always want to expand and go bigger with a hobby like that.

You glue this baby together, sprinkle coal dust everywhere and give it a rustic look. Very cool model if you're into that kind of thing. I will grab one again. I wonder what ever happened to the one they had at the museum years ago. Whoever put it together did an awesome job!

Just a question, dunno if you guys can answer it or not. I was just wondering, on a spiritual level of course, lol, what's the energy like down there? Do you feel spirits or presences? I would imagine a place that old and with that much history would have interesting energies for sure. Just wondering. Really awesome pictures by the way, I enjoy looking at them.
Let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out
