I was thinking about Aces Map yesterday, with that east wellington train route, he had the train leaving from the scout hut but I think he had holland and westwood lake rd mixed up the train left from down by that apple orchard by that slack pile you can see from the highway, from what I can tell anyways,

I think that map I gave you of Wellington is similar to Ace's. He and I spoke briefly about that, his was a satellite image, mine was hand drawn,

I'd just never seen any sign of coal around the scout hut and being the old neighborhood and all I would think about that, I was looking at the map book yesterday and I saw the train track that I think Ace was talking about, that's a spot I tried to check out yesterday but I'll be going in a new way next time, one of those nice easy to get to spots, no one even knows your gone

A lot of the land near the Scout Hut and where the tracks were are on very private property that the owners do not like people trespassing on. If you are going on private property, you should approach the house and ask before you go onto their property. I am friends with more than one homeowner in the area and they don't take trespassers lightly, which is why I did not pinpoint some of the locations in that area.

so Smokey, you think there were coal workings around the scout hut too? I just didn't see anything in the atlas, I can see the slope behind the apple orchard off westwwood lake rd and I can see the two entrances at the bottom of cathers lake subdivision, shows a track leaving right around the orchard and crossing by the bottom of cathers heading accross that farmers field to e wellington. would be neat if there were workings around the scout hut, I've been in the bush back there when I was younger and didn't see anything coal related. The spot I was looking the other day was down that creek behind the apple orchard, I got to the bottom and found new development so I back tracked out of there and decided to go in off the parkway trail another day, where I won't have to cross anyones property, you can see the slack pile in there at the bottom of the hill. shouldn't bother anyone down there. Can't believe I didn't check this out when I was a kid, didn't even know it was there, I figure may as well check it out now.
