This mine has a shaft that breaks to the right about half way down. Please note the word "shaft", because this is very important.
I originally thought this shaft was filled. It appears to be an elevator shaft of some kind and would appear that the uppermost timbers have somewhat collapsed. Combined with the fact that people have possibly thrown timbers, rocks, rubble, etc. into it to block it off, it still appears to exhibit the characteristics that there is still an empty hole that drops straight down. It wouldn't suprise me if it were a deep hole filled with water.
If you go into this mine, please stay out of here. These would have probably been the thoughts of the previous person(s) which urged them to block the shaft so that nobody would fall in, providing somebody actually threw timbers, etc. into this "shaft."

I cant belive the photos, what a nice record of this trip! Gorgeous day for it! That was one big chunk of coal beside my invisible sign, lol.
You could publish a book with those amazing photos. I love the picture with the frog, crystal clear. I noticed you in the hospital perametor thread mentioning coal mines of all things and look what I found when I checked this thread out.
    Thanks again for sharing.

It is strange to think of that whistle being in a carboard box under the former Mayors desk for all that time!

Good thing the entrance is to small for a full sized bear to get through.

A cougar on the other hand.

I already want to go back there.

go to the bottom, sit down and turn the lights out for a while and meditate on the past.
