Got a chance to check out the petroglyphs out on the ridge. I was really confused as to whether that was bedrock or paved. The stone was very fascinating. Found a few others that were quite faded. Also saw some interesting wildflowers. A yellow "orchid type flower" and some wild "lillies".

    Thanks for the hiking tip.

My dog "Monty" Aka "Moo" thanks you too. There was a nice big mud puddle that he got to roll in and bunnies to chase (two of his favourite things).

Totally! I often feel the same confusion down at the Millstream at the lowest point of Bowen Park.

I liked the petroglyph pictures on your Flickr, scottyg. My favourite is that crazy humanoid one with the big haunting eyes. (Would you be willing to post that picture here, please oh please?)

    ScottyG's driections:
Walk south down hydrolines at Harewood Mines Rd (aka seventh) till you get to the stairs on your right. Go up stairs and at top notice there are two paths (perhaps three can't remember) The most obvious are at 11o'cock and at 1 oclock. Take the one that points in the 11o'clock direction. Follow that path, it curves and runs parellel with the hydro lines if I remember properly. You will come to a clearing of scraped away bedrock. It resembles many roads. I spent nearly an hour searching these roads for them.... came across some faded ones too. But to see the ones in questions look for some boulders that sit at fairly equal distance from one another (there may be three.. I must like three) The boulders are fairly small... there are at about knee height and only a few feet wide and long. But immediately on the other side (southeast) you will find a series of petroglyphs.

Are they somewhere near Port Alberni? Sproat Lake?

Well for most of the Sixties, I lived on Milton Street a couple of houses
from Franklyn. And how many folks remember the Franklyn Street Gym
    by the elementary school?

And, just think the stories we could tell about the many happenings at the old gym. From various recreational activities to the odd boxing show, or nearby at the corner grocery store. Not far away was an old garage where I took my old '51 yellow car to get fixed from time-to-time.

Is that the same Franklyn St gym that's still there?
My friends used to meet there for all kinds of amateur circus-type stuff, and drumming. Sounds like it was a bit of a scene for a while, with kids running around everywhere and people on stilts.

Here's that place on Wallace St by Fitzwilliam, September 2006:

Has that place ever been open?

    A "wet boat"! Hilarious.

Thanks for the link. I didn't understand this part (emphasis mine):
An aerial view of the sinking with the Saskatchwan in the centre. Hundreds of boaters showed up in all kinds and sizes of vessels, the smallest being kayaks and the largest the B.C. ferry (sinking 2) which accommodated the largest number of on-lookers.
