Default hey, How to get criminal record check?

I am starting volunteer homework /tutoring at Barsby for outreach kids.

they asked me to get a criminal record check.

    Where can I get it?

do i just go to cop station and get one?

ps: hopefully the record won't turn out that I have been deported as that's what they said it at my previous work place...haha.

    just joking.

A Consent for Disclosure of Criminal Records Information can be obtained from the RCMP. Take along some photo ID and $25.00 (processing fee). They take your money and copy your ID and in a couple days (sometimes the next day), you get your completed form. A Criminal Record in it's entirety is not shared, only generalizations.

Questions on the Consent of Disclosure are as follows:
☻Records of Criminal Convictions found in the Identification Data Bank
☻Records of Criminal Convictions found through CPIC of which a pardon was not granted plus records of outstanding charges that the RCMP are aware of.
☻Records of criminal convictions and summary of police information
☻Police information located on computer systems and information located through local police incident checks. This will include information related to non convictions and all charges regardless of disposition.

These are answered as "NONE" or "May or may not exist"

That is more secure than my experience! The police at the friendly counter didn't ask me for I D They simply gave me the form, takes no time to fill out, my 20.00 and processed it. I do them now at my place of work but hey I may not be who I say I am. Anonymous non crooks who are dangerous in real life! I wonder if I'd filled out a fake name would they discover that person didn't exist?

A few years ago, a frend of mine, wanting to buy a handgun, applied to purchase one. A criminal record showed up on him that went on for more than three pages. The RCMP were nice enough to show it to him. (These days I suppose the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act would prevent that.) There was another person with exactly the same name, but that man lived on the prairies.

My friend had only ever been out of British Columbia once. Born in Nanaimo, educated here and in Vancouver, taught at Malaspina College/VIU. His only journey was for VIU, when he was sent with a couple of colleagues to teach for a while in northern China.

It took quite a while for it to get sorted out. The fact that he was fairly well-known in Nanaimo probably helped. But I suppose these days it would be fixed faster. He was a little shocked that, among other things, he had once held up a bank in some place like Wetaskawin.

Congratulations on your volunteering! You're helping the kids, and you're certainly helping yourself make your first steps into teaching. Way to go!

do you have any way to find some used grade 10--12 textbook, like Math, especially needed.

I tried re-write provincial grader 12 math exam last night, it's not like i have trouble writing it, it's better when i have an textbook, as you know, past 10 years, text has been changed a little bid.

I have two friends wanted to me to be their kids's tutor for grade 12 math provincial exam as well.
It seems like there is shortage of math teachers here in B.C, is that true?

IMHO crim checks are anaemic. It just gives information that you haven't been caught yet. When working with kids, I'd rather have a background check done instead. a partial psych profile can be built on a 5 year or 10 year employer, school, and residential information. Not just a name run through CPIC. But that would cost more than 25 bucks.

And, as anaemic as they are, they should be done before students enter a Faculty of Education to become teachers. The route to secondary teaching these days often is a four-year degree in a subject like English, followed by an intensive, no-time-off, thirteen-month university course which leads to a Diploma in Education. (As an aside, BC's teachers, both elementary and secondary, receive more training than many in Canada.) Those thirteen months include a long practicum with students. The kids who have those "student teachers" are entitled to whatever protection a criminal record check can give. But there there should be at least some form of psychiatric or psychological pre-screening done, too, before we let people near our kids. Only once in this district have I had to deal with the issue of a pedophile near our kids, his crimes were not inflicted on kids even in this district--he was "careful" enough to travel to another area on the Island to do what he did. Not that that makes what he did any better. But I've had to deal with other teachers in other districts, not pedophiles, but people who never, ever should have been allowed near students. Anger, bullying, substance addiction, hitting of kids to the point that someone outside the district had to come in to help deal with the situation--those people shouldn't be near kids, either.

in that case, if it costs volunteer tutors that amount of money to do it, not too many people will volunteer there anymore, schools are not going to spend that amount of money too.
private tutor can make around 15---25 dollar/hour depends on your experience. we do that for no charges.

this is harewood, I ride biycle three blocks, can say hi to at least five people a day.
we found this kinda of opportunities from words of mouth. friends refer friemds, people's reupation here is kinda of important. even you have this that clearance, does not gurantee you will not do anything in future.

well, this is not uncommon though, in this town, when you are like me, Asian face, some people will automatically associate me with organized crime.
i had people asked me if i am "vietcong"?
    i can't help LOL.

    Default Sorry--wandered off topic

because I just heard of another ring of internet pedophiles, some of whom are teachers. I tend to get just a little angry (Let's face it, I figure any teacher involved in anything like that should be stood up against a wall and shot, let's not bother with a trial) so I lost my control and my thread.
