    Default thanks

    Hi,

Well it seems like we are after some of the same information. I have collected some information through the friends of morden mine and the historical society in Cedar. I am working on my thesis/practicum in Landscape Architecture and working on a design that may incorporate some of the historical aspects of the morden mine and mining culture in Nanaimo. I am looking for a historical maps that show the railway to boat harbour if you happen to see one let me know. I am also looking for images of the trestle that crossed the Nanaimo River in Cedar near the Morden Mine. Anyway, I thought I would clarify my research so we could possibly help each other out if possible. Thanks

    Hi,
That sounds interesting,I am looking at the posibility of working for a fellow as a consultant, he owns 300 acres right around Boat Harbour Marina and I was thinking maybe trying to incorporate some of the history of the area into a development out here and or donating some of the property to Hemer Park (its right off the end or Hemer) and or maybe the historical society.I thought if we could preserve some of the property and donate some of it we could get a more positive reaction from the locals about doing a small resort and
expandinng the Boat Harbour marina ect.

Give a call to the Friends of Morden Mine. Also try SWCA - south wellington community association or just the library. there was a great book published a few years back called the south enders or something like that and it will have some interesting stuff in there for sure.
