Best place for jeans in Nanaimo?

Damnation! I've discovered a small hole in the butt of my jeans. What can I expect? They've lasted about ten years, and I wear them almost every day. So I need a new pair. At my age, and with my life expectancy, I may not ever have to buy another pair, so price isn't a problem. And I expect when I go into "the home" they're not gonna like me bopping around in jeans and a T-shirt (especially my vintage Che Guevera one.) Well, I wouldn't pay $500--I'm not Paris Hilton!--but I'm willing to pay a fair amount to get top quality jeans.

Does anyone have any suggestions? And I don't want to go to some teen-type place where I'm gonna get treated like a freak because I'm so "old" and still buying jeans. I'd kill myself before I'd start wearing those awful polyester pant suits where the pants have elastic waists that a lot of "older" ladies just love.

I've already tried WalMart. The problem there is that I qualify as "petite" which includes short. Petite in WalMart seems to be waist or hip size, not leg length so much. I couldn't find anything that I wouldn't have had to shorten. I'd like to just step into a pair of jeans where I don't have to do any work on them at all. I've been surprised at the number of teachers I've seen in there. Don't they know they're supposed to be boycotting the store? Of course, I have to admit I'm in there a fair bit, and technically I shouldn't be in there, either, so who am I to point a finger?

Going to Value Village is pretty pricey for me, believe it or not. I can't walk to my nearest bus stop, so I have to taxi the whole way across town to get there and back. Although in my time teaching at Dover, I ferried my fair share of students there who were the children of friends. A once a month trip, usually: four kids pile into my SUV after early dismissal on Friday and head for the VV Boutique. Only problem would be who got to ride shotgun. Ironic--my nephews, who lived about three blocks from Value Village and went to Barsby wouldn't be caught dead in there, but the Dover Bay kids loved Value Village and always bought their jeans there.

But for what's probably going to be my last-ever pair of jeans, I'd like to buy new and I don't mind if they're pricey. Just to mark the occasion. Please indulge a self-indulgent old broad who's willing to go upmarket this time and don't judge me for this extravagance.

The Thrift Store at Northridge Centre in the north end is absolutely great for quality,cleanness and price. It is run by the Hospital!! I have seen some great jean styles and wish I could fit into them. (it is well worth the trip to this store!!) Also has some really neat household stuff. Quality and great price is where this non profit -fund raiser for the hospital-is on my list!

After all, they were nice enough to come and pick up three or four cartons of books from me, when they were asking for books a few years ago. I phoned them, explained I had no way of getting them there myself, and they picked up. And it's a good cause. There have been times when I had a season-ticket pass for the ER at the hospital.

This sounds just awful, but I haven't been in Rutherford (What's it called now: North Town Centre or something? I can't keep track!) for about three years. I heard a rumour Zellers was closing or moving. Is that right?

Nope, Zeller's isn't moving or closing. There was a mention that there is a business moving onto where the old Zellers entrance from 10-12 years ago (more?) was. That area is now being used to warehouse summertime garden patio furniture.
