Thirty, in my experience, is the worst. I have no idea why, but hitting thirty really hit me. There's been no birthday like it since. And when I hit sixty-five I celebrated, because I'd made it that far.And I'd outlived by several years the doctor who told me in my mid-thirties that I probably wouldn't see forty. So much for the complete accuracy of medical science.
