Thread: Moving and wondering about suitable areas?

Default Moving and wondering about suitable areas?

Hi my wife and I are moving soon to the Nanaimo area....or maybe up the road to the Parksville area?...we're coming out in a few weeks to get more familiar with the various places....Our criteria is that we're looking for either a home or maybe consider a condo in the under $600,000 range....and if I'm moving all the way out there, I want a really nice ocean view.....We're in our 50s but still very culturally active (she into bellydance and I'm a musician)...We want low maintenence and prefer a small yard....any suggestions are most welcome....

Hi and thanks for the links....I forgot to mention that condos might not be best for us as we have 2 fairly large dogs....

Hmmm....large dogs, and townhouses and condos don't often go too well together, mainly because of the neighbours, some who would no doubt hate your dogs, no matter how nice your dogs might be.

There are lots of deals around Nanaimo right now. I prefer the Townsite area of Nanaimo. It's an older area. But there are some nice homes there. And same goes with the Departure Bay area of Nanaimo.

Lantzville, just minutes north of Nanaimo is very nice. As is Nanoose, which you might like a lot. Diana Krall and her husband, Elvis Costello, just built a home there over looking the ocean.

Here are some listings for Nanoose Bay.

Townsite is nothing special. It's mostly just older homes. But I enjoy it.

I think Nanoose might be the spot for you, if you can find a good deal. I have several customers up that way. And I always enjoy the area when I am there.

Be sure you drive all the way out to Dorcas Point Road and Marina Way etc.. See the whole area. It's worth checking out.

Departure Bay is a nice area. I don't know Nanoose that well, but don't dislike it either. There is a member of this forum, Ryan Coffey who is a realtor. If you are looking for a realtor, Ryan would be good. He is with Coast Realty.

No problem. Wasn't sure if you had one or not. An option in the event you didn't have one.

Thanks....I guess one can tell a lot ahead of time about the areas....I've already kind of picked Nanoose, Departure Bay etc. as prime places just from some of the homes listed and the satellite google views of some of the areas....
