Nanaimo Nightscape from Westwood Ridges last night:

Got a little disoriented on the way down, would have made it back to the trail without the GPS, but let me tell you, that thing gives you some peace of mind! You get that uh-oh feeling, look at the GPS and realize you're only 100metres off, rather than being completely clueless.

What a waste of books! Is that Kennedy St, Odonate? Neat pic.

Hey fitz, cool picture! Way to get a photo from a nighthike. I was pretty smug - I mean flattered! - when Chelsey said that she said, "I dunno, I usually just follow Gerry!". Awww.

'tis true, when you have someone experienced leading the way, sometimes we just don't pay any attention at all! It was nice to get out and get that kind of familiarity with the trails myself. Luckily, there are a lot of markers on the trail (painted "||" on the trees) --but there are so many different routes to the same places!

It's not smug - we appreciate the experienced guide!

It looks like the title menu in Resident Evil.

Wow, College Heights is sure something to be proud of, Nanaimo. What planning. There must have been some real leadership in that development. It's so beautiful. What vision!
    Y'know, for a tourist town ... nevermind.
EDIT: For the record, I'm not referring to every element of this photo - College Heights is that lofty eyrie in the background that's been scraped off and stacked with crates.

    Got that camera yet, Nick?

Count the birds! How many are crows?
    Crows and mural, truck

Here's Mt Benson at night, taken with a long exposure (no tripod, alas) from that knoll on Westwood Lake.

And here's one taken during the ferry ride back to Protection Island after the hike.
